JUGS - Birds

Nothing like a box of new stamps and papers to get my creativity flowing, and the Just Us Girls challenge this week to use birds just called to me having just unpacked Swirly Birds stamp set and coordinating framelits.

Now this set has some odd shaped stamps that can be put together in many different ways to create all sorts of things, one of the less abstract ones is the little bird and a shape that can either be a nest or a boat hull. To go with this is a little stamp with three ovals on it that everyone is using as eggs in the next, however from the moment I saw it I wanted to add eyes and beaks and make them into baby birds!  What do you think?  I used the end of one of the leaves in the set to make the beaks but they would be super easy just to add by hand.

One of my other new products is the lovely Serene Scenery DSP stack, which has  a combination of photo style images, and patterned sheets in soft natural colours.  I decided to keep the soft feel going and add the sentiment from Layering Love which I think is just beautiful and goes so well with the mother bird looking after her chicks.  The nest is also made from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits that co-ordinate with the Swirly Bird stamp set.

CTC #81 - Birthdays

I am so excited! This is the first CTC Blog Hop with the new Annual Catalogue that went live on 1 June. I just love a new catalogue, although my bank balance often struggles under the weight of my wish list! This week the team are taking inspiration from the Birthday section of the catalogue, pages 10 - 25.

There are so many projects in these pages it was a bit tricky to narrow down what I wanted to CASE, and although I was tempted to ink up some of my new stamps that arrived just yesterday, I decided that I would use a set that carried over and is just so great for birthdays, Endless Birthday Wishes.

The stamp set certainly lives up to its name with a total of 27 stamps, most of which are sentiments that can be mixed and matched to make an almost endless range of birthday greetings. I love mixed font sentiment, and this stamp set is perfect for that as it has a mix of both the small type and larger cursive font sentiments. I kept my creation very similar to the one in the catalogue as I wanted to highlight some new product in the two new in-colours Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum, the yellow cake is "decorated" with Daffodil Delight.  To colour these I used my Stampin' Write Markers on the bottom two shades, then going over this a second and third time toward the base of the cake to give more depth of colour.  I used my Aqua Painter to pick up a small amount of colour for the top of the cake.  I feel the need to point out the beautiful 3/8" Ruched Ribbon which is just so pretty and available in all the new in-colours.

As always we would love if you joined in with the challenge, just take inspiration from one of the images in the birthday section of the Annual Catalogue and add it or a link to your blog to the main CTC page (link above).  We choose a top pick from all the entries each month.

Time to hop on over to see what the lovely Simone has created in her first blog hop since returning from holiday.

CTC #79 - 3D or Kit

Welcome to another CTC Sunday Blog Hop, can you believe this is our second last hop before we start on the new Annual Catalogue!  For this hop we are taking inspiration from 3D items and Kits from the Annual and Occasions Catalogues.

This is the image I took inspiration from, the little bag/basket on the left from page 61 of the Annual Catalogue, I think this is so cute and such a great way to use the Fry Box die.

I changed mine up slightly, to make it a little more masculine. I used images from the Amazing Birthday stamp set stamped in Cherry Cobbler and Night of Navy which are great masculine colours. To add to the masculine theme I added a Gold Doily rather than the Tea Lace Paper Doilies, as well as some of the edge of the 1-1/4" Burlap Ribbon.

This is a great size little bag, I added some treats in one of the Sketched Dots Tag a Bag Gift Bags. I did think the bag in the catalogue with popcorn would be a really cute way to package up a movie gift voucher for someone.

Now its your turn to get inspired by the projects in the Stampin' Up Catalogues and add your creation to the link above. Just a quick reminder that we have one link for the whole month with a top pick chosen from all the weeks.

Time to head on over to Rebecca's blog and check out her wonderful creation.

I am also adding my project to the Seize the Birthday challenge to add dimension to a birthday project,

CTC #78 - Project Life/Hostess

Welcome to another CASE-ing The Catty Sunday Blog Hop, this week we are taking inspiration from pages 42, 43 and 51, combining Project Life and Hostess sets.

I chose this cute little bag from the hostess page of the Occasions Catalogue, I thought it looked fun and I love the DSP inside the bag which softens the colours.

I decided to make a card instead of the bag (somehow I have misplaced my Sketched Dots Gift Bags!) and chose the Have A Cuppa DSP.  I added the hearts using coordinating Chalk Lines, and stamped off the images in Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay to mute them slightly to match the DSP under the vellum.  The sentiment is from Tin of Cards stamp set, and the cute little cup is fussy cut from another sheet of the same DSP stack.

If you would like to join in, please upload a link to your photo to the main Blog page.

Now it's time to hop on over to  Rebecca and see what she was inspired to create.
