CTC #408 - CASE a Mini Bundle

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from the section of the Mini Catalogue that has all of the bundles. These can be found on pages 76 to 83.

I was inspired by this card from page 77 which features the Conversation Bubbles Bundle. What caught my eye with this was the layout of shapes cut in different colours and sizes and the way they have been layered.

I decided my stitched rectangles would give me the best look, although other Dies such as the Deckled Rectangles would also work well.  I chose Favoured Flowers DSP for the background. I like that the side of the DSP that doesn't have flowers has muted patterns on them.  To coordinate with the DSP I chose Mossy Meadow, Evening Evergreen, and for a lighter option Pool Party.  I decided against adding a ribbon to the card, and kept the embellishments to the little brass butterflies.

One thing I did to add more interest to the card was to use a different technique for adding a leaf pattern to each of the green layers, using a Die, Embossing Folder and Stamping in Craft White on them.  I am really happy with how these turned out and add that subtle pattern to the layers while keeping with the leafy theme.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples using the bundles in the mini catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Tina has created this week.

CTC #406 - CASE A Love or Valentine Project

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from any of the projects in either catalogue that has a Love or Valentine theme. There are quite a lot scattered through the catalogues so you have lots to inspire you, maybe to give to a special someone on 14 February.

It has been a while since I created a 3D project and was inspired by this cute little treat bag on page 40 of the Mini Catalogue. I believe this project uses the Peekaboo Treat Bags, however as I don't have any of those it was an extra challenge to create something similar.

Here is my finished project. I have filled the treat bag with honey cashews, one of my husband's favourites and while these are more feminine colours I think he will like this on Valentine's Day.  Now to share how I created my version.

I used one of Stampin' Up!'s Cello Treat Bags, I used an older smaller version than the one in the catalogue, but the idea would still work with a bigger bag, and a bigger bag means more treats!  Or bulkier treats, I did try to put Roses Chocolates in mine but it was a bit small.  I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock the width of the bag and about 3/4" shorter than the length of the bag.  This allowed me to fold over the top of the bag which I then hold in place with a wide belly band.

Here's a picture with the bellyband completely removed. I added one of the flowers to this band so that when it was in place it visually ties the two pieces together. You can more easily see in this image that I used some of the Brushed Brass Butterflies to the sentiment panel and the cello bag.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the Love or Valentine themed projects to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #404 - CASE Mini Catalogue: Country Floral Lane

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogues to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from the projects in the Country Floral Lane Suite, pages 8-11 of the mini catalogue.

I was inspired by this card from page 10 of the mini catalogue, I liked the layers and use of DSP in this project.

I don't have any of the products from this suite, and decided to have a break from using the SAB DSP that I've used on my past few cards. I went looking through my DSP stash and realised I hadn't used Sun Prints very much and thought it would be perfect to create a monochromatic version of the original card.  Instead of using the ribbon in the same way I created little folds all along the sentiment strip to give just a hint of the ribbon.
I used a little trick to add dimension to a card with multiple layers.  I wanted to use Dimensionals under these florals, but to do so would have made the card quite bulky under the sentiment and ribbon.  The trick is to use the Dimensionals only at the top of the piece where there are fewer layers, and Tombow on the stems that are tucked under the sentiment.  This gives the illusion that the whole piece is raised.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples from the Country Floral Lane suite to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #403 - Sale-A-Bration

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from any of the lovely projects in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

I was inspired by this card from page 10 of the SAB Catalogue. I love the effect of these layered cards so much.

I kept my card very similar to the original, but couldn't help adding some of the Dry Brushed Metallic DSP in the strip under the sentiment. I also coloured the two stamped floral pieces under the sentiment and of course changed out the "Hello" for "Thanks".  I have said it before, but I'll say it again ... I am loving this group of products, it is so great to be able to coordinate pieces so easily.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.
