CTC #417 - CASE A Favourite Retiring Project

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from a favourite project using retiring products.  This will be our last hop from the 2022 to 2023 Annual Catalogue and Mini Catalogue, so join in and help us send these two lovely catalogues off in style.

I was inspired by this card from page 44 of the Mini Catalogue. I liked the asymmetry of the layout, and although I don't own any of the stamps, dies or DSP used, I thought I could recreate it with alternatives.

I am still using up the last of my Chic DSP, I love how versatile this DPS has been, fitting with so many different themes. I thought I'd use a few more retiring favourites, Forever Flourishing Dies for the leaves in the background, and Floral Gallery dies and coordinating Art Gallery stamps. Thankfully the Deckled Rectangles Dies and Pastel Adhesive Backed Sequins are carrying over!

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples using retiring products to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Rebecca has created this week.

CTC #416 - CASE Favourite Retiring Mini Project

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from some of our favourite projects from the Jan to Apr Mini Catalogue. There are too many I love for me to be able to choose a favourite, so if you are like me, just choose one that catches your eye.

It was the bright colours that drew me to this project on page 37 of the Jan-Apr Mini catalogue.  I also liked the layout and even though it is on a gift box, I knew I wanted to recreate it on a card.

I am determined to use as much of my retiring DSP as possible, and this card was a good way to use a few of the different colours/patterns.  I also had the opportunity to use my leaf die on the background so couldn't resist using that instead of an embossed pattern.  I am so happy with how this turned out, although it did take me a number of attempts to get the right DSP in the right layer!  the little flowers are cut using the Sentimental Park dies, there are so many flowers dies in this set.  The leaves are from Timeless Arrangements, and I just know you are going to see a lot of these on my upcoming projects.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples that are retiring from the mini catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Rebecca has created this week.

Scrapbooking Global - Blind Scrapping

Welcome to the April Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop. This is my first ever hop with SG and I have to be honest the first 12x12 scrapbooking page I have done since the early 2000's!

I was totally intrigued by the theme of this month's hop, which is Blind Scrapping. We were all given a list of instructions about size and location of DSP, Cardstock, Photo and Embellishments and from that written list create our page.

These are the instructions we were given.

Recently our daughter and son-in-law bought their own home, no mean feat these days, and I knew I wanted to use this photo of them having stuck the "sold" sign on the poster the day they exchanged contracts. I will be framing this page for them to keep in their new home.

I used the gorgeous new Countryside Inn DSP for this project, and have used what I think of as the backs of the sheets (the ones with simpler patterns). I love that this DSP is all blue and added a pop of colour with Moody Mauve and Bubble Bath to stamp the flowers. For my top embellishment I stamped directly onto the base cardstock and then layered the flowers over the top having punched them out and curled up the petals.   These are stamped with the Petal Park Bundle from the current Mini catalogue.  I have also added a few Pastel Adhesive-backed Sequins for some extra interest.

For this embellisment I stamped the leaves and flowers and then fussy cut them out. To add more dimension I added additional layers of flowers over the top.  Linen Thread was added under this.  You can just see in this image that I used the same die to cut out my journalling box as well as to create a small tag under the photo. I used the tag under the photo to bring in a bit of the Moody Mauve cardstock.

I am so happy with my creation.  I suspect I will be doing more scrapping in the near future.

Paper Crafting Blog Hop: Last Chance Products

Welcome to Paper Crafting Blog Hop where talented Independent Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all across the world create projects using current Stampin' Up! products.  This month we are featuring the retiring products from the Annual and Mini Catalogue. A chance to say goodbye to some favourites before they are gone for good.

I often find that I horde my DSP, scared to use it up for some reason. Then at the end of a catalogue cycle I find myself regretting not using it!  So for this challenge I decided to focus on using some of the DSP I have been holding onto, and created a really simple One-Sheet-Wonder.

Unlike a lot of OSW, this one doesn't make lots of cards, but it does economically use up your DSP.  The best part is that it works for metric (cm) and imperial (inches).  Piece 1 is a scrap piece that isn't used for the card fronts.  Piece 2 is the only piece you need to measure, simply cut it the same size as your card front; then cut it into two pieces using a diagonal cut.  Piece 3 is the same height as a card front, the width is not important.  Use the three large pieces (2a, 2b, and 3) to create a set of cards.  For my cards I used the soon to retire Pretty Prints, and while it is originally a 12"x12" DSP I cut it down to 6"x6" before starting my OSW.

Card 2a: For this one I decided to create a landscape orientated card, I paired the DSP with retiring stamp set Eden's Garden and embellished with a strip of Copper Metallic Foil and Pearls coloured with Dark Rich Razzleberry.

Card 2b: For this and the next card I used Nature's Prints stamp set which I am happy to say is not retiring.  For the base card and stamping I have used one of our retiring colours, Soft Suede. I used to use this colour quite often, but less so in recent times which goes to show Stampin' Up! do seem to know what is on trend!

Card 3: As you can see the strip of DSP doesn't have to be a specific size as it creates a feature panel on the card.  Again I have stamped using Soft Suede for the base and stamping.  I have also added some splatters of Wink of Stella which as always hasn't photographed well, it looks beautiful and sparkly in person
