Butterflies Inspired by Pumpkins!

Isn't this a great photo!  Over at Paper Lovin' Gals this is the inspriational photo for this week's project. Now I have to say I struggled a bit with this as I use pumpkins more for soup than I do for Halloween!  But I was determined to join in again this week and so started to think about which elements of the card I would use to inspire me.   I decided I really loved the colours and the layout of the images, but not so much the pumpkins.

So I swapped out the pumpkins and made them into a flight of butterflies, the elegant lines embossing folder reminds me of the twisting vines of the pumpkins and gave the card the texture it needed.  I used Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango and More Mustard as my three colours for the butterflies. The sentiment from Cottage Garden fit so well in the frame and with the vine twisting through it seemed perfect for this card.

I am again using my entry into the challenge as an application to be on the Design Team at Paper Lovin' Gals, and while I am not as happy with it as I was with the vase of pink flowers card I do like my interpretation on the photo.

Week 27 Challenge - ESAD

ESAD is a group for Extra Special Australasian Demonstrators, and I love being part of it.  One of the things I enjoy, though don't get to participate in as much as I would like, are the weekly challenges.  This week was a 3D and card challenge using a template found here. As soon as I saw it I thought of an old Combi Van from the hippy days, all painted up.  How pleased was I to learn that the first of the Combi Van's came off the production line in 1950 making the choice for an accompanying card an easy choice of course .... a 60th!

Envelope Gift Card Holder

This is a cute little Two-Pocket Envelope Card. I followed the instructions from ChickNScratch at http://www.chicnscratchlive.com/2009/07/stampin-up-envelope-card.html . The flap at the top sits behind the main image which is adhered by Dimensionals along the bottom, and flips out easily. This is how the card looks inside - you can see the two pockets here, one for a gift card and the other for a note card or other small greeting card - which I haven't made yet!
Cardstock: Rich Razzleberry
Stamp Set: Cottage Garden
DSP: Cottage Wall
Other: Dimensionals, Crystal Effects, Dazzling Diamonds

Top Note die with the Big Shot.

I am having some real fun with the top note die, I have looked at the shape on cards on Split Coast Stampers for a while now and loved it, so very pleased we now have access to it here in Australia.
This card I used Apricot Appeal for the base, and my own DSP on the lower section of the top note using the Vintage Vogue and Country Garden stamp sets from the Autumn/Winter mini catalogue. Colours used Apricot Appeal, Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry.

Another variation with the top note, I also love the way the curly label punch matches the top note. I put diamond brads from the pretties kit as the centres of the flowers for some extra bling. For this one I cut one top note from DSP from the Cottage Wall collection and another from Old Olive card stock, the DSP one I trimmed off around the perforations and layered over the Old Olive one to make the frame. Sponging the edge of the curly label gave the effect of this layering on that also. The base of the card is Kraft as are the two flowers.

This is my verson of the card I received from the swap, I changed the colours - Kraft as the base, Old Olive and DPS from . I inked the Vintage Vogue flowers with Soft Suede and then used "rock and roll" technique with the Rich Razzleberry, I really like the way they turned out. Again sponging the curly label punch out gives some depth. The light part on the top right of the card is just a patch of sunshine that crept onto my photo area.
