CTC # 97 - Favourite Holiday Bundle

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty, this week the team are taking inspiration from the wonderful bundles in the Holiday Catalogue. There are lots of bundles and they are great value at 10% off!

I just had to choose my favourite bundle in the catalogue the Paisley's & Posies bundle.  I just love the images and the framelits in these two sets. I chose the card above as my inspiration, you can find it on page 46 of the catalogue.
I switched the colours, using Emerald Envy and Dapper Denim with Copper Embossing Folder. I love these three colours together and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to use them.  Instead of layering the colours like the original I went with a more blotchy effect, and added some additional leaves to the bottom panel. I love a layered card so mounted the panel on a base of Dapper Denim.

With so much going on on the front of the card I wanted to keep the inside panel very simple using just a couple of the small stamps from the set at the bottom of the panel. This is one of the reasons I love this bundle, with 18 stamps in the set there are no end of options for their use.

I hope the team are inspiring you to join in this week, if so add your photo to the link above.

Time to hop on over to Rebecca's blog and see her lovely creation this week.

ESAD Blog Hop: Holiday Catalogue

Welcome to the ESAD Holiday Catalogue Blog Hop. Who doesn't love a new catalogue full of brand new products and chocked full of ideas? Well the new Holiday Catalogue from Stampin' Up! does not disappoint!  This blog hop from the ESAD demonstrators will give you just a small taste of what is in store. Whether you have arrived from Delys's blog, or are starting here, just follow the links at the bottom of each post until you get back to where you started from.

One of my favourite bundles from the new Holiday Catalogue wasn't one of the many Christmas or Halloween sets, but the gorgeous Paisleys & Posies stamp set and matching framelits found on page 47. There are two other products from the catalogue that I have featured today, the divine Copper Foil Sheets also on page 47 (my favourite page in the catty!); and the very cute, but easy to miss White Gift Boxes on page 7.

A friend made me something similar to this a couple of Christmases ago and I knew it would be really cute with these lovely White Gift Boxes. They are a great size at 3" x 3" perfect for any number of treats, and what a great way to show them off but on a lovely matching stand.

Here is the stand just on it's own and you can see how the box neatly fits in the cut out section, it isn't adhered to the base, so the person can easily access the box without damaging the overall effect.  The base is a piece of 14.8cm x 10.5cm card stock with a fold down the middle at 7.4cm.  Fold the card in half then cut out the recess as follows: 2.5cm from the end, 4cm deep and 8cm wide. I then just added layers of card stock using a pencil to mark where to cut to give me the borders I wanted. I probably could have measured it but I make too many mistakes that way!!

Now for a closer look at the box, remember how I said it was "white", the wonderful thing about that is that you can decorate it anyway you like, whether with stamped images like I have, or with washi tape, brayering, embossing ... the options are limited only by your imagination. With the box and the base I layered some of the different stamps in the set to get the different colours in each image. One of the great things about these little boxes is that they come with a plastic sleeve, so decorating them like this with ribbon and a tag is so easy, and it allows the sleeve to slide off without disturbing any of the decorations!

Here is a close up of the tag, I used a couple of the framelits in the set to create this, layering Crushed Curry, Copper and Bermuda Bay as my base layers, slightly off-set, then one of the more intricate framelits on the top cut once in Copper and once in Crushed Curry, which I used the "off cut" pieces to layer in the Copper layer. Notice how the Bermuda Bay peeks through? I decided to do it this way rather than try and piece those little bits in place!

Paisley Fishy

I am so blessed to be a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for many, many reasons, but one of the best is having contact with some really amazing and creative people.  This morning I was blown away by the creativity of a fellow demonstrator Valerie Sanchez and her use of my favourite bundle from the new Holiday Catalogue - Paisleys & Posies. I can't add a link because she posted in a private Facebook page, but the creative credit for this belongs firmly with Valerie.

I am really not sure how a mind looks at this set of framelits and sees this cute little fish! Valerie was kind enough to share which of the framelits she used, and after consulting with my daughter who has a great eye for colour made this little fellow. Yes I have used the new copper metallic paper on his fins, eye and tail, I just love how it adds something special. It took a little while for me to choose a card layout for him and made a mask from the swirly birds framelits and sponged Bermuda Bay a bit randomly. I like how the different levels of colour give a sense of underwater scene.

The sentiment from Designer Tin of Cards on the front seemed to go well with this sentiment from the same set on the inside.  I love the little flourish and heart from Paisleys & Posies stamp set.

CTC #92 - Everyday Occasions

Hi and welcome to another CASEing the Catty blog hop, this week we are taking another crack at the Everyday Occasions section of the Annual Catalogue.
This is one of those big sections of the catalogue with so many inspirational images.  I chose the card on the right in the above image from page 86.

While I kept a few things the same, like the use of the gorgeous Serene Scenery DSP stack and the general layout, I also changed it up a bit too.  I chose one of the other papers in the stack and used some of the wonderful new bakers twine that is coming in the Holiday Catalogue next month.  Such a great set of twine, you get three rolls to tie in with the traditional Christmas colours - Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler, with the third being a really cute gold twine. I wouldn't normally put gold with a natural/organic themed card, but I think it really goes with the lovely gold heads of the plants.

I used the cute little line of dots stamp from Perfectly Wrapped stamp set and the sentiment from Paisleys & Posies.  It is really hard to see the sentiment, no matter how many pictures I took, it just wouldn't come up well in any of them.  The sentiment says "I thank you for your part in my journey" and is from another new product in the Holiday Catalogue.

If you would like to join the challenge this week, please add a link to your project to the CTC Blog using the link above.

Time to hop on over to Kathryn's blog to see what she has created this week.
