CTC #169 - Sale-A-Bration

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take one of the lovely projects in a current Stampin' Up! catalogue and use it as inspiration in a project of our own.  The inspiration might come from the colour combination, layout or sketch, or some other feature.

This week we are looking at the current Sale-A-Bration catalogues, including the second release flyer.  This is the final month to earn Sale-A-Bration item for free before most of them are gone for good.

I took inspiration from the image on the 3rd page of the second release brochure. I have been quite drawn to these with my last Sale-A-Bration CASE coming from this set of cards too (the pink one), but this time I was drawn by the Rich Razzleberry and Pool Party combo of the bottom left card.

Much like my last challenge card I flipped the colours around so that I have Rich Razzleberry as the card base and accent, and Pool Party on the stitched circle Framelit piece. Instead of fussy cutting the leaves from DSP I cut them using the Petal Passion Bundle from the current Occasions Catalogue, choosing to use gold to bring out the small leaves on the DSP.

I wanted to draw your attention to the sentiment for a moment, I have double cut it with another Framelit from the Petals & More Thinlit Dies, by this I mean that I cut it once then moved the Die along to make the window for the sentiment a bit shorter and a better fit.  The other thing I did with this was to cut three of the flourishy pieces, trimming one down to extend just beyond the sentiment, you can do this the same way by re-positioning the cut piece in the Framelit to cut a piece off.  I then added two more pieces to widen the piece so it created a border around the sentiment. I was totally surprised to find how well the layers lined up - zoom in on this picture and you can see where I have done the layering.  I was in a bit of a rush to make this card, so didn't take pictures of the steps, but will be doing this again soon as I  love the look and will do some step by step pictures then.

I hope you are inspired to join in this week, just take your inspiration from one of the SAB catalogues and upload a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page

Time to hop on over and see what Rebecca has been inspired to create this week.

CTC 72 - Own Choice Sale-A-Bration

Welcome to another CASEing the Catty Blog Hop, this one is a little sad as it will be our last from the Sale-A-Bration products because SAB finishes on 31st March!  Hasn't that time gone quickly!

I decided to take inspiration from this image on page 13, and combine features from both the card and the bag.

I loved the little bag so re-created it almost exactly, changing the ribbon.  I did like the effect of the flower and butterfly on the card, stamping onto coloured card stock and then fussy cutting them.  I decided to add these as an element to the tag.  Because I was using Blackberry Bliss for the butterfly I decided to emboss it in gold instead of just stamping.

I hope my project, and those of the rest of the team, have inspired you to join in for the last of the Sale-A-Bration inspired hops.  If you do follow the link above to the CTC Blog where you can upload your project.

Time to head on over to Tricia's blog and see what she was inspired by.

CASE-ing the Catty #20 - Blendabilities and Framelits

This week on CASE-ing the Catty we are taking inspiration from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue and using a combination of Framelits and Blendabilities.

I have used the beautiful Blended Bloom stamp and the sentiment from Lotus Blossom. Don't you just love the colours?  A combination of Daffodil Delight, Strawberry Slush and Melon Mambo.  I have taken some of the lovely SAB ribbon and trimmed carefully down one side, separating the fibers and using the long threads to embellish the front panel.

I liked the colours so much I tried the same layout and colours with the tulips from Lotus Blossom.  I stamped the lightest layer in Daffodil Delight, the next in Crushed Curry, and finally the last layer with Strawberry Slush.

I am off to make a few more to package up as a set of cards!

I hope you join in the challenge this week, just take inspiration from the Sale A Bration Catalogue with Blendabilities and Framelits, then upload your creation at CASE-ing The Catty.

Sale-A-Bration One Sheet Wonder

I have looked for a long time at One Sheet Wonders (OSW) and found one that I quite liked the look of but unfortunately it was in imperial measurements which is usually fine, but didn't look quite right on our A5 cards so I did a bit of a re-work using similar shapes.  The original OWS can be found at Joyfully Made Designs.

Firstly here is the full set of cards.  I used a single piece of DSP measuring 19cm x 18.5cm. I chose this sheet because one side had lots of lovely colours while the other was Island Indigo and Whisper White allowing me to have two different colour pallets.

Card 1: I made this set of cards while I was away at a craft retreat and didn't have a flourish stamp with me, so I borrowed the one from last year's Sale-A-Bration set Fresh Vintange, covering the main flower with the panel and the button from SAB this year!  The sentiment is from Petite Pairs.

Card 2: For this card I used the Bloomin' Marvellous for the flowers, leaves and sentiment.  I just love these colours, so bright and cheerful.

Card 3: I flipped the DSP over to use the Island Indigo and to mute it down a little I brayered it with Pool Party.  I some fun with this one, sponging the flowers and the doily and adding lots of pearls!  The cute little bow I learned off the very lovely Andrea from EnchantINK.  After following Andrea's blog for years and being inspired by her creations it was wonderful to be able to meet her in person!  Thanks Andrea.

Card 4: I fiddled and faddled with this card for some time before I was happy with it, but am happy with the result.  the sentiment is from the SAB set Vintage Verses. It was the addition of the three little butterflies that had me happy with the balance of the card.

Card 5:  I wanted to do something a little different with this card so used my two butterfly punches and paper piercing pack then slid the strip of DSP behind so that pattern shows.  Sentiment from Perfectly Penned and the ribbon from the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Buttons Pack.

Card 6:  Keeping fairly simple on this one I added a glimmer brad and some brushed gold card stock behind the DSP panels and sentiment.  Sentiment from Teeny Tiny Sentiments.

Card 7: I love this card, I think it is my favourite of the set.  I fairly closely followed the sample on the original page of the OSW.  I love that the a la carte sentiment is so flourishy and that it ties in so well with the flourish from Everything Eleanor.

Card 8: This is another one I struggled with just a little.  I had the basic layout in my head but it wasn't quite right.  It took a coming back after a lunch break to realise the butterflies were needed to add balance. The embossing folder used is also available for free during Sale-A-Bration - Vine Street.

Card 9: I used the Postage Stamp Punch to layer the small pieces of DSP and stamped the Whisper White with images from Bloomin' Marvellous and Petite Pairs. I love the ribbon available for free as part of SAB as well, such a lustre and so easy to make bows with.

Finally here is the layout for the One Sheet Wonder in metric.  All 9 cards made from just one piece of DSP!  If you are thinking of doing one of these, my suggestion would be to choose a DSP with a reasonably small pattern or it will get lost on the smaller pieces.  One with lots of colour also gives you lots of options for colours in your card.
