CTC #169 - Sale-A-Bration

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take one of the lovely projects in a current Stampin' Up! catalogue and use it as inspiration in a project of our own.  The inspiration might come from the colour combination, layout or sketch, or some other feature.

This week we are looking at the current Sale-A-Bration catalogues, including the second release flyer.  This is the final month to earn Sale-A-Bration item for free before most of them are gone for good.

I took inspiration from the image on the 3rd page of the second release brochure. I have been quite drawn to these with my last Sale-A-Bration CASE coming from this set of cards too (the pink one), but this time I was drawn by the Rich Razzleberry and Pool Party combo of the bottom left card.

Much like my last challenge card I flipped the colours around so that I have Rich Razzleberry as the card base and accent, and Pool Party on the stitched circle Framelit piece. Instead of fussy cutting the leaves from DSP I cut them using the Petal Passion Bundle from the current Occasions Catalogue, choosing to use gold to bring out the small leaves on the DSP.

I wanted to draw your attention to the sentiment for a moment, I have double cut it with another Framelit from the Petals & More Thinlit Dies, by this I mean that I cut it once then moved the Die along to make the window for the sentiment a bit shorter and a better fit.  The other thing I did with this was to cut three of the flourishy pieces, trimming one down to extend just beyond the sentiment, you can do this the same way by re-positioning the cut piece in the Framelit to cut a piece off.  I then added two more pieces to widen the piece so it created a border around the sentiment. I was totally surprised to find how well the layers lined up - zoom in on this picture and you can see where I have done the layering.  I was in a bit of a rush to make this card, so didn't take pictures of the steps, but will be doing this again soon as I  love the look and will do some step by step pictures then.

I hope you are inspired to join in this week, just take your inspiration from one of the SAB catalogues and upload a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page

CTC #121 - Sale-A-Bration Last Call

Welcome to another CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, this week we are taking a final look at the Sale-A-Bration samples.  Sale-A-Bration ends this coming Friday so its the last chance to pick up some great free items, so don't forget to contact your friendly demonstrator before they are gone for good.
This week I was inspired by the card on page 4 of the SAB catalogue, I was particularly taken by the diagonal banner for the sentiment.

I wasn't so taken with the colours in this sample, preferring something a bit brighter, so decided to use the Just Add Ink colour challenge combo for the week.

You know I have been having all sorts of fun with my Oh So Succulent stamps lately and this challenge was no different, I think they look good in the bright colours.  To get the two tone effect I stamped directly onto the card stock, and for the solid stamps I stamped off to get the softer effect. I decided to add rhinestones instead of the pearls and left the bow off as I didn't think the card needed it with the extra bling.

I hope the design team are inspiring you to join in with the challenge this week, if so just add a picture of your creation to the CASEing The Catty Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Rachel has been inspired to create this week.

CTC #84 - Love and Sympathy

Welcome to this week's CASE-ing the Catty blog hop for the week, we are making our way through the catalogue one section at a time, and this week we are at the Love & Sympathy section, pages 44 - 55.

Once again there is lots in this section to be inspired by, and I decided to take inspiration from the card on page 49, mostly because it gave me the opportunity to have a play with my new Flourishing Phrases Bundle.

I kept most of the colours the same but decided I wanted a softer green so used the delicate Mint Macaron for the leaves, which when paired with Peekaboo Peach really makes it pop.  The sentiment and base card are another pop of colour with the vibrant Bermuda Bay.

I loved this sketch so much I decided to use it again, this time with This Christmas Specialty DSP. This is a great value pack of papers because you get 24 sheets for just $22.75, that's double the usual amount, and even though the thickness of the paper is not as heavy as the regular DSP it is much sturdier than I was expecting.  I just love the colours and patterns in this set as well.

The flowers from Flourishing Framelits set really made me think of poinsettias so I think it works perfectly with the Christmas theme.  You can see here that I painted each of them with Gold Wink of Stella to make them pop. I also splattered the Gold Wink of Stella on the sentiment panel as well so the whole card has a lovely sparkle to it.

I hope I have inspired you to join in with the challenge, if so follow the link above to add a link to your creation.  If you would like to be part of the CTC Design Team this is your last opportunity, we will be choosing a few new members from all the entries received in June.

Time to hop over to Jackie's blog and see which sample inspired her creation this week.

Sprinkles of Flowers

I have just been away for the annual Stampin' Up! South Pacific Convention, this year held in the Gold Coast.  I came home inspired and ready to order new stamp sets and get started, well my stamps arrived and this weekend I had the chance to have a play.

I decided this sketch from Create with Connie and Mary would be the perfect use of my new stamps.

This cute little stamp set "Sprinkles of Life" is AMAZING, not only does it come with a matching punch, but its also the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) stamp set! That's right $3 from every set goes to the RMHC for the whole year.  This set has mix and match stamps to make baskets of flowers, trees, cup cakes, ice cream cones, and has some cute little sentiments to match.  I can guarantee you will be seeing a lot more of this stamp set from me, and I think across the internet as they year progresses.  The flowers on the right panel were stamped using Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamps.

In-Colour Thank You

ESAD, the online group that organised the recent Blog Hop I was part of has set a monthly card challenge.  Unfortunately it is a closed Facebook group for Stampin' Up! Demonstrators and I can't link up the other creations but wanted to share mine.

This card uses three of our beautiful new In-Colours, new Label Love stamp set and matching punch as well as the very cute Chalk Talk Framelits.  I trimmed down the framelit tag to make it more square by running it through the Big Shot twice.  Sentiment from Itty Bitty Banners, and the flower is made with the wonderful Simply Pressed Clay, coloured by pushing it into the Coastal Cabana stamp pad - you can also colour the clay before you put it in the mold, or use an aqua painter to paint the dried flower (I had misplaced mine on my somewhat messy desk lol).
