CTC #428 - CASE The Artistic Expressions Section Of The Catalogue

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from the Artistic Expression section of the Annual Catalogue, pages 94 to 116.

I was inspired by this card from page 106, I liked the neutral colour scheme and distressed elements.

I chose stamps from the Earthen Textures stamp set as my leaf images, and the splatter image from Irresistible Blooms stamped in Pebbled Path stamped off three times so it is really feint.

I then crumpled and distressed the piece of cardstock and added some light sponging in Pebbled Path to bring out the distressing.   With my panel being smaller than the original I decided to add a layer of Wild Wheat embossed with Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder. To help the cane weave stand out I used my blending brushes to add Wild Wheat, Crumb Cake and Copper Clay around the edges.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the projects in the Artistic Expressions section of the catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Peta has created this week.

CTC #427 - CASE A Die Cut Project

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from projects in the Annual Catalogue that feature Die Cuts in them.

I was inspired by this tag on page 62 of the Annual Catalogue.

I decided to use the tag as a panel on the front of a card instead of just as a tag.  I kept to the original layout and other choices except for the embellishments and ribbon.  I originally had a Boho Blue ribbon on the card but once I added the copper Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots I thought it would look nicer with Copper Clay ribbon. I think it also breaks up the blues of the card.  The background was a bit plain but I didn't want to add too much because of the busy DSP, so I stamped the little cluster of circles from Timeless Arrangements onto it with Versamark.  Such an easy way to step up a background with minimal fuss.

In the original I almost missed that this layer had been embossed, so wanted to show it in this close up picture, I aged the edges with Crumb Cake ink applied with Blending Brushes and added the sentiment from Sentimental Park.

I don't often add a sentiment to the inside of the card, but having added the Copper Clay to the front I decided to carry that through in the sentiment and strip at the bottom.  These sentiments are also from Sentimental Park.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the projects that feature a die cut to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Julia has created this week.
