CTC #370 - CASE A Bundle Project

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the bundle projects on pages 75-83 of the January to June Mini Catalogue. I love the way Stampin' Up! use different colours to these projects than in the main body of the catalogue so we can see how a bundle looks with a different style. I always check these projects out as I have previously overlooked a bundle because the sample colours weren't my style.

I was inspired by this image from

I used my now Splendid Thoughts stamp set and dies for my card, I loved re-creating the original with these new products. Aren't those copper leaf elements gorgeous?  They are so find and delicate and cut with the new dies.  The ribbon is Soft Sea Foam coloured with Evening Evergreen Blends.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Rebecca has created this week.

CTC #369 - CASE A Blending Brush Technique

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from projects that use a Blending Brush technique. I was excited for this challenge as I love my Blending Brushes and couldn't wait to get started.

I was inspired by this image from page 33 of the Annual Catalogue featuring the Simply Succulents stamp set and dies. I was so pleased to see this set had carried over from last year's catalogue as I love succulents.

I used the same colour scheme as last week, and am much happier with the way they worked together on this card.  I think keeping the darker colours as the framing layer of Pretty Prints DSP and ribbon works much better.

The first blending Brush technique is using the large die cut from the Potted Succulents Dies to create a mask for adding soft colour to the background. I did purposefully add different amounts of colour to the centres of the succulents on the background. My tip is to use a piece of DSP (retired of course) to make your mask rather than photocopy paper as the DSP is a bit more robust and takes a good amount of blending without damaging the paper mask.

I also used my Blending Brushes to colour the succulents in the focal image.  As you can see here, colouring with Blending Brushes is a non-precise way to colour, and is great for adding colour to the centre of flowers and succulents.  I could have added other colours around the edges but wanted to keep it fairly simple.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #368 - CASE Favourite Annual Catalogue Project

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from our favourite project in the new 2022-23 Annual Catalogue which went live this week.  I love it when a new catalogue comes out, so many new products and to flip through and see all the wonderful projects the Creative Team have designed is so much fun.

It is way too hard to pick a favourite at this stage,  however I decided  to flick  through  the catty until a project really jumped out at me.  The project above, from page 75, caught my eye.  I was drawn to the colours and the contrast between the black and white images on the background and the focal imaged coloured in.  I also really like this design as it is great for getting the most out of 6" x 6" DSP as you can use a 3" strip of DSP on the card instead of a whole card-front.

I wanted to use my favourite colour combo at the moment, Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen and Pale Papaya, however I think that the card might have looked softer if I had used a paler shade on the background as the darker green is a bit strong.  I added some rhinestones and some gold leafing using the wreath from Natural Prints Dies, I love how they add some texture and you can trim the wreath into smaller embellishment pieces.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC 367 - CASE the Cover of the New Annual Catalogue

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the cover of the new annual catalogue which goes live on Tuesday 3rd May, so at the moment we can only show you the cover, but it does give a peek at one of the stunning new suites coming soon.

Here is a simplified version of the card's layout, you can make adjustments to this in your own project, make it a landscape card for example.

I have kept my project fairly close to the original in colours and design, mostly because I wanted the challenge of re-creating the card using different supplies to the ones in the new catalogue. I played around with a few different leaves and flowers, but settled on Art Gallery for the flowers, and Forever Fern  for the stamped leaves.  The little gold leaves are cut from a die that is from the new catalogue and part of the Nature's Prints Bundle. The die cuts a cute wreath which I have cut into various leaf elements to use on my cards.

To add a little extra bling I have coloured three Opal Rounds with a Mango Melody Stampin' Blends pen to coordinate with the project.  The sentiment is from Inspired Thoughts, and it was this sentiment that really drew me to the stamp set, I think it is so much more caring than "with sympathy".

The background was created with a piece of DSP from Sun Prints DSP pack, however I added Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green and Balmy Blue to replicate the original card using Blending Brushes. I love how they allow easy colour adding to DSP to match any project.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.
