CTC #320 - CASE An Occasions Project

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the projects in the Occasions Section of the Annual Catalogue, pages 10 - 59.

I was inspired by this image from page 48 of the catalogue. The Bamboo Beauty stamp set is on my wish list so I think that is what first caught my eye. I was also drawn to this image be because I loved the soft colours and then I noticed the technique of making the background piece and knew I had to give it a go.

I love how this technique turned out and might be using it again in the future to add colours to a background! I just swiped the brush end of my blends across a piece of vellum, working out from the darkest to the lightest green (Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent) and then lightest to darkest Pale Papaya.  My recommendation would be to use a piece of vellum slightly larger than you need so you can trim the edges, and also secure it to a piece of scrap paper so you can run the colour off the vellum for a nicer edge finish.

I decided that even though I like the soft colours of the original I thought mine looked better with an Evening Evergreen base. This meant layering the vellum piece onto a piece of Basic White so the colours weren't muted by the dark background.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

ESAD - 2021 to 2022 Annual Catalogue Blog Hop

I always like to do a few cards for a new catalogue blog hop and this one is no exception!  I have a couple of cards that I have recently shared as part of a small new catallogue swap so they have only been seen by a few people, then I have a variation on one of those and a completely different one.  Most of my cards use the Hand-Penned Suite but the last one has a really different look, let me know which you like best.

This first card is one that I have had on my display board for my catalogue launch. I was playing around with a sentiment stamp set Inspired Thoughts which was one of the first things on my wish list as I love the font used.  I did do some fussy cutting after stamping colouring and die cutting the floral image, but it was really easy and it frames the sentiment nicely doing this. The card base is Evening Evergreen and the DSP from Hand-Penned DSP, the colours of the flowers and leaves are all the new In-Colours, don't they look great together?

This next card is one that I included in my recent swaps and is a really easy card to make, just take a piece of DSP 0.5cm smaller on both sides than your card base then  cut 5cm off the end and flip it over. I added a strip of the shimmery vellum and layered it over a piece of Basic White cardstock, then added a daisy cut from the Pale Papaya shimmery vellum using the smaller Daisy Punch. The little leaves are from the Penned Flowers Dies, also cut from shimmery vellum.  Sentiment and die are from Potted Succulents Bundle.

This is my variant from the swap card, using one of the other Hand-Penned DSP sheets, I added Petal Pink ribbon but coloured it with Pale Papaya Stampin' Blend to coordinate with the card base.  The sentiment is from Many Messages, it is great to have a few of these stamped and ready to add to your cards.

Here is a close up of the flower used on the two cards above. You can really see how shimmery they are and they look so pretty on the cards.

My final card is using a different set from the Simply Elegant Bundle which I haven't played with as much, why? Because I have misplaced the stamp set!  Don't even ask how I managed that, I just can't find it anywhere! If I hadn't made this card I might have thought I didn't order it at all!!!  I was playing around with options for the punch when it occurred to me that it looked a bit like the hinges on an old style heavy leather book, and with the sentiment from the coordinating stamp set I thought it would be fun to replicate an old book. I stamped the flourish image on Crumb Cake cardstock then blended some colour over the top and roughed up the edges to age the cardstock. The sentiment and hinges are layered with gold foil sheet.  This would be fun to do as the cover for a mini album for a wedding I think.

Time to hop on over to Sue's blog to see what she has been drawn to create with from the wonderful new Annual Catalogue.

CTC #318 - CASE A Die Bundle From The Mini Catty

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the Die Bundles in the Jan to June Mini Catalogue.  With a new Annual Catalogue it is easy to forget that there are still another couple of months before the Mini Catalogue finishes.

For this challenge I chose the purple card on the right of the above image from page 77 of the Jan - Jun Mini.  I love purple but was also drawn to this card because I haven't used my Art Gallery Bundle very much so it needed an inking up, also I love the colour purple.

Even loving purple, I wanted to mix it up and make it less of a monochromatic card than the original, or shades of purple with a tiny splash of green.  I chose a piece of DSP from my new favourite Hand-Penned DSP pack, which has a lovely polka dot pattern. I wanted to add some ink to the background so the flowers stood out a little bit more so pulled an open ink pad down a few times which keeps to a mottled look. The two colours I have used are Pale Papaya and Granny Apple Green, I think these are such fresh colours and they look great together. If you look closely you will see that I have also added three little gems form the Genial Gems from the new Annual Catalogue, I love these as they have glitter in the gems and they are faceted and such soft colours so add a bit of bling without it being distracting.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #317 - Say Hello to the New Annual Catty

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the new Annual Catalogue, for our first hop now that the catalogue is live we are opening the challenge to any project in it!  Take your time to have a look through the amazing projects in the catty, and even if you don't have the same products as in the catalogue just use what you have to be inspired by the colours, layout or any other aspect of the project to create your project.

I was inspired by this image from page 99. When a new catalogue comes out one of the things I look for are the smaller projects, or ones that might not be the focal point on a page. you might look at the image above and miss the cute little card in the top right, but this is the one I took my inspiration from.

Even though I didn't have the same products used in the original I did have the new Color & Contour Bundle and thought the fun daisy style flowers would be a great way to replicate it.  I also made it in the new Polished Pink and current Highland Heather which are such a bright fun combo. I was so surprised with the frame dies in this bundle as they are all a little different from each other in more than just size, I thought this one had embossed strips down each size, but it actually has full thickness cuts which lets through some of the colours from behind.

Here is the card from another angle which shows the Painted Texture 3D embossing on the background, and catches the light on the cute little In-Color Jewels which add such a fun element to the card.  My tip for positioning the flowers is to cut two of the frames, and adhere one to the card where you want the sentiment to be, then layer the flowers around it before adhering the "real" panel over the flowers.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #316 - Say Goodbye To Your Favourite Retiring Product

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from our favourite retiring project and products, this is a really tough one because it will be our very last CASE from the 2020 - 2021 Annual Catalogue and there are a lot of projects and products that I have loved from this catalogue so its tough to chose just one ... so I didn't!

I was inspired by this image from page 109, I liked it because it uses my favourite DSP from the Forever Greenery Suite of the same name.  I also knew it was a card that would allow me to feature some of my other favourites from this catalogue.

I love the striped DSP so used this one rather than the one in the original keeping with the horizontal striped theme. I also wanted to use the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper which is just gorgeous and I have loved using in my projects this year.  I used two of the gold wreaths, one with the gold showing and the other that I flipped over and coloured the white backing with my Dark Pretty Peacock which is my faviourite retiring In-Colour. I also used this pen to colour three adhesive pearls.  Instead of using the Forever Fern stamp set (because it's not retiring ... yay) I chose two of the leaves and sentiment from Rooted in Nature which is a set I absolutely love. Finally my favourite ever embellishments are the Gold Glitter Enamel Dots which I have used way more than any other embellishment (except pearls and rhinestones) and I am going to miss these little guys so much.

This card really does represent some of my favourite products from the 2020 to 2021 Annual Catalogue which will retire on 3 May ready for our new Annual Catalogue which goes live on 4 May. If there are any products you are thinking about, don't delay if they are on the retiring list because they won't be available for very much longer.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples of retiring products in the 2020 to 2021 Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.
