CTC #508 - CASE The Sale-A-Bration Catty

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from the Sale-A-Bration (SAB) Catalogue.

I was inspired by this card from page 9 of the SAB Catalogue, the use of the Fresh Freesia Ribbon to create the weave pattern really caught my eye. Did you know that there are a lot of tips, tricks and techniques within the pages of our catalogues?  Near this picture was a description of how to re-create the two-toned textured background on this card.

Here you can see a close up of the background panel which was achieved by weaving Fresh Freesia Seam Binding in two directions across a piece of cardstock.  For us in the South Pacific it is easy to work out how big the panel needs to be as the ribbon is 1cm wide, so any measurements in whole cm will work!  The tip in the SAB catalogue is to colour half of the ribbon using Dark Fresh Freesia Blends, it is really subtle makes all the difference.  I cut my pieces of ribbon and added adhesive tape to one edge of the cardstock, using it to stick down one end of half of the ribbon, then I added tape to the edge beside the one I just did. For me this was the left edge and the top edge, flip the cardstock over so the "back" is on the table, then it is a simple job of weaving the two together over and under, tucking the end of the ribbon over and adhering it to the back of the cardstock.

Here is my finished card, I wanted to keep with the general layout but also showcase some other SAB products like the Adhesive Backed Purple Sequins and Star Struck Embossing Folder. The flowers and leaves are from Everyday You & Me an on-line exclusive bundle, embossed in white embossing powder onto Fresh Freesia and Granny Apple Green cardstock. This technique is great for more solid images like this as it allows pops of colour while creating a softer finish than stamping those colours onto white cardstock.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use SAB projects to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #507 – CASE An Annual Catty Bundle

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from the bundles in the Annual Catalogue, I love a good bundle and not just because of the 10% discount, but because the stamp sets and dies coordinate together so well.

I took my inspiration from this card on page 65 of the Annual Catalogue, showcasing the Attention Shoppers Bundle. While I don't own this bundle I liked the simplicity of the card with a plain background letting the sentiment and image pop.

As I mentioned I don't have the Attention Shoppers Bundle, but I did recently buy on pre-order the Textured Notes Bundle which will be released at the start of March. This is a bit of an unusual bundle as the stamps and dies don't directly coordinate, however they do complement each other well.  The stamp set has two leaf sprigs, two woven patterns and three sentiments, but it was the dies that caught my eye as they are a set of 8 rectangle dies and each has a different "texture" around the inside edge - you can see two of them in my card.  I used the two-tone 12x12 paper in Pretty Peacock and layered the solid frame with a white frame to better show off the pattern. The centre piece was used for the sentiment panel.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the Annual Catalogue Bundle projects to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #505 - CASE The Sale-A-Bration Catalogue

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from the Sale-A-Bration (SAB) catalogue

I was inspired by this card from page 11 of the SAB Catalogue, I liked the simplicity of the layout and how it is a great way to show off different sheets in a DSP pack.

I thought the lovely Bokeh DSP would be great for this CASE, I cut a 1" strip from five different sheets, then cut it in half to create 10 1"x3" pieces. I love how well the colours go together while creating a fun background for the sentiment.  This is another of my no-stamping cards as I have used the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack, colouring the letters to mirror the DSP colours beneath them.

Because I had 5 extra pieces of DSP I decided to make a second card, and this time chose a bolder sentiment from the same Ephemera Pack and leaving it white.  If I had kept going with this process I could have made 12 cards from 5 sheets of 6"x6" DSP!

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the Sale-A-Bration catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.
