CI #70 - Birthday Bash Blog Hop

Welcome to another Colour INKspiration challenge, where we (usually) match Stampin' Up! colours to the ones from an inspiration photo, and use them to create our projects.

Did you know that today marks the not only the Colour Inkspiration's 70th hop, but it is exactly 3 years to the day from the very first hop! Usually we take our inspiration from an image or photograph, however for this special birthday challenge each of the Design Team have chosen their own favourite three colours and used them to make birthday themed projects. .

We invite you to join us in celebrating and make a birthday project using your three favourite colours, or if you would prefer choose one of the colour combos from the Design Team, and share it on the CI Facebook page.

There are so many amazing colours and colour combinations that I found it a little hard to narrow it down. I decided that I had to go back to two of the colours I have loved for the longest time, Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive, and what better to pair them with than Gold Foil.

Having recently received my preorder from the new catalogues I couldn't wait to use them in my project for this hop.  I was originally going to make this card using the triple layer technique, but then realised I could use my Stitched Rectangle Framelits instead! For this card I kept each layer the same width, but you could skip a Framelit to get a wider panel. I love the versatility of the Painted Poppies Bundle, here I have used the poppy and leaf images to create the background and then again for the feature flowers.

One of my favourite framelits in this bundle is the swirly circle shape that I have cut in gold foil and layered behind the sentiment. This makes it so easy to add a layer of colour or foil behind sentiments or images with this shape.

Once I had finished my first card, I realised that I could use the left over frames to create a second card!  Again I have added some stamped poppies and leaves, all cut with the coordinating framelits, to the front of the card, and cut the sentiment from Forever Lovely using another of the cute Framelits. What do you think - should I go back and add some sequins to this card to give it more bling?

You could use this technique to cut DSP instead of the stamped layer if you wanted to.

I hope you are inspired to join in with this challenge, just pick three of your faviourite Stampin' Up! colours and use them in your project, then post a picture of your project to the CI Facebook Page.

Time to hop on over and see what the lovely Jackie has created with the colours.

Happy Stamping
Monique

  5. Your colours surprised me Monique, I was sure they'd be purples! Those cards are a clever idea, with two different looks, very versatile, I like both variations.
