More Frames

I sat down today and wanted to create again with my new toys, and knew this sketch from Stampin' Royalty would be the perfect opportunity to use the Apothecary Accents Framelits dies.

Can you believe that this card started out with the Under The Big Top stamp set and Big Top Birthday DSP and a totally different frame!  It transformed in my head to this DSP and the ballerina from Under The Big Top.  From there I just decided to not have a stamped image, just a sentiment and Curly Cute was just perfect.  Isn't it funny how things just come together sometimes?  I don't make many pink cards, but will keep this on hand for just the right occasion.

Non-Traditional Christmas

It is not often I have been able to create mid week, however tonight I was browsing through my favourite challenge blogs and came across the Festive Friday Challenge, which this week had an interesting colour combo to use. Not traditional colours at all for a Christmas card, but I liked the look of the samples done by the design team.  Then I went looking for a sketch to inspire me and came across the Just Us Girls sketch, so I combined the two challenges to create a mid-week card!

For this card I have used the Delicate Doilies stamp set for the background, stamped in Early Espresso, Crumb Cake and Blushing Bride.  I wanted to keep a vintagey feel to the card so embossed the ornament in a mix of Dazzling Diamonds and Clear Embossing Powder then added some pearls and twine.  The sentiment is from the Curly Cute set of sentiments

Panels of Art

I have to say this week the inspirational photo from Paper Lovin' Gals had be guessing for a while, then I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  Does the photo immediately inspire you or will this one take some thought?  Either way come and play along with us this week.

I loved the artistic shapes of the panels and once inspiration took hold I knew I wanted to replicate them with my punches.  I used the Itty Bitty Shapes punches and the small heart punch, I randomly punched shapes out of Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Poppy Parade card stock before mounting each on Whisper white and then framed each with Basic black.  The DSP layer is from Beau Château DSP collection.  I used Curly Cute for the sentiment, I am loving this set both for variety of sentiments and the font used.  I cut a strip of card stock just over 1" wide and put each end into the Decorative Label Punch to trim off the end to give it a fancy look, I then cut a slightly wider piece of Basic Black, mounted the sentiment on it and trimmed the ends using the same method. What do you think?

Pop on over to the Paper Lovin' Gals blog and check out what the other Design Team members have created to inspire you, then join in the fun.
