CTC #112 - Cupcakes & Carousels

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty, this week we are taking our inspiration from the Cupcakes & Carousels section of the Occasions Catalogue, p 8-13.

I took my inspiration from this card that you can see on page 10, I liked the colours and layout of it, and wanted to use both in my creation.

As you can seek the sketch shifted a bit over the course of my creating, but I did stay true to the colours used, I do like how they go together. This is my first inking up of my new Oh So Succulent stamp set, and I had fun playing around with which colours looked best.  I love these little succulents, as well as the framelits that they bundle with, I can't wait to show you the 3D one I made.  The sentiment is stamped with one of the great sentiments in Layering Love and cut using the Layering Ovals framelits.

I like adding some coordination to the inside of the card, and for this one I simply stamped one of the succulents in the corner.

We have moved the challenge to Facebook, so if you would like to join in just follow the link above. If you are not yet a member, join the group to be added.  Each week we will be having  "most popular" card and a "crew choice" awards to give out.  Don't forget to add your picture to the album for this week to be in the running for one of the awards.

Next on the hop is Elizabeth, pop on over to see which project she was inspired by.

ESAD Blog Hop - 2016 Annual Catalogue

The release of the new Stampin' Up! annual catalogue calls for an ESAD blog hop, and this one is no different. This is a great catalogue and I know you will get lots of inspiration from the blog hop so grab a cuppa and enjoy hopping through all of the creations, just follow the link at the bottom of each post to hop to the next blog.

My first card is made using the Scenic Sayings stamp set, which I have paired with the soft Blooms & Bliss DSP.  The sheet I chose only had blues and neutral colours in it, and I really wanted it to coordinate with the new Sweet Sugarplum I had used to colour in the sentiment, and the ruched ribbon. My solution was to add some Sweet Sugarplum stamping using Swirly Bird stamps, adding the swirly flower to the centre of some fo the flowers and a few of the little dots in between, I did this by just inking up the end of the very dotty stamp in the set, rather than ink the whole image. I have also used the new Layering Ovals Framelits, which have a combination of plain and scalloped ovals that give nice narrow layers.  I have to be honest, I wasn't going to get these framelits but earned some free product with my order and am so happy I did!

My next card uses the lovely Mixed Borders and Designer Tin of Cards stamp sets.  I just love how the flower border stamp and leaf border stamp combine to make a mixed colour border really easy to create.  This fold is known as a double z fold, which is really quite cool, and just perfect for this border set.  I have added a flower from Botanical Builder Framelits and some embossing using the new Floral Affection embossing folder.

My final card for the hop is this one using Layering Love and the cute little cat from Sitting Here, I remember seeing these two stamps used together in a card made by Lydia and knew I wanted to do the same in some way. I used the Layering  Oval Framelits again on this card, and the Dapper Denim Ruched ribbon which is so lovely.

Time to hop on over to see what Cathy has created for you, then keep hopping until you get back to the blog you started on.

JUGS - Birds

Nothing like a box of new stamps and papers to get my creativity flowing, and the Just Us Girls challenge this week to use birds just called to me having just unpacked Swirly Birds stamp set and coordinating framelits.

Now this set has some odd shaped stamps that can be put together in many different ways to create all sorts of things, one of the less abstract ones is the little bird and a shape that can either be a nest or a boat hull. To go with this is a little stamp with three ovals on it that everyone is using as eggs in the next, however from the moment I saw it I wanted to add eyes and beaks and make them into baby birds!  What do you think?  I used the end of one of the leaves in the set to make the beaks but they would be super easy just to add by hand.

One of my other new products is the lovely Serene Scenery DSP stack, which has  a combination of photo style images, and patterned sheets in soft natural colours.  I decided to keep the soft feel going and add the sentiment from Layering Love which I think is just beautiful and goes so well with the mother bird looking after her chicks.  The nest is also made from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits that co-ordinate with the Swirly Bird stamp set.
