CTC #239 - CASE a Layout

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilse the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the projects on page 103 of the Annual Catalogue. The secondary challenge is to also change the theme, so I took the thank you card and made it into a birthday card.

I chose this cute little card featuring the cute rhino from Animal Outing, I loved the look of the strips of DSP behind the focal panel.

I have to let you in on my process that led to this card.  I started with the stunning DSP from Perennial Essence because it has such beautiful deep rich colours, but I just could not get it to come together in a way that I liked, so I put all those pieces aside and reached for Bird Ballad instead, the colours are so soft and were easy to layer with Whisper White.  I totally love how this turned out, the cute magnolias were stamped and cut using Good Morning Magnolia Bundle. I love using products from two different suits together as I think we sometimes forget that so many of SU products coordinate really well across the board.

Seeing as I loved my card so much I pulled out the pieces I had from the original and decided to finish off a card with them. I am still not quite happy with this card, but I like how the Blackberry Bliss sits against the gold foil.  I think maybe I should have done darker sponging on the flower.  Let me know which one you like better.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples on page 103 and CASE one of the layouts and change the theme!  Then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Tina has created this week.

Happy Stamping
Monique

  1. They are both gorgeous. I do love the pink and white. And the gold looks amazing too! Great case.

  2. I love both cards but the Perennial Essence one really pops due to the darker, brighter colours. But I love the subtle colours of your first card too. Ok, I’m sitting on the fence, I can’t decide lol

  3. I love the way you’ve made two totally different cards with the same layout, Monique. I’m really glad you went back to the Bermuda Bay one because I think that’s actually my favorite, just edging out the pretty, soft one. Both great CASEs.

  7. It's great to see how just changing the paper can make a completely different look. Love them both.

  8. Both cards are really lovely, Monique. I love the softness of the magnolias and the pop from the bolder colours on the second card.
