CTC #415 - Favourite Retiring DSP

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from our favourite retiring DSP from either catalogue.

I was inspired by the Chic DPS which is part of the Texture Chic Collection on pages, and am using the colour combinations to guide my project.

I decided to use this very pretty pattern from the DSP pack and pick one of the colours in the DSP that isn't officially listed and only shows as small specks on this sheet, Bermuda Bay. I paired this with Flirty Flamingo, a stronger  colour than Petal Pink as I thought it needed the pop of colour.  I used my new Timeless Arrangements Bundle that I received on Friday as part of the new catalogue pre-order.

I stepped up the inside of the card using a fancy fold that I learned on a recent stamp retreat. Unfortunately I don't know the name of it to share with you.  The mechanism allows the focal image to pop forward as the card opens. I did reach into my retired stash for the vase, and would have used one from the new Earthen Elegance Bundle but that didn't quite make it onto my pre-order! Though I don't think it is far off.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples using your favourite DSP to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Kathryn created this week.

Freshly Made Sketches #581

I have been struggling with creativity for the last year or so, so it is lovely to have my creative streak returning.  It has been quite a while since I joined a Freshly Made Sketches challenge, so it was a good opportunity to join in the challenge this week.

The sketch by Cecile is clean and simple and I thought it would be perfect to create using one of my new stamp bundles Petal Park.

I was so pleased to see Petal Park and Sentimental Park Bundles in the new catalogue (though no longer as bundles) as I have had my eye on these for a while so added them to my pre-order which arrived on Friday.  I think this card is my first time using Parakeet Party, but it created such a fun and fresh back ground to the Moody Mauve flowers. I also stamped around the edge of the base card using the same leaf stamp. The sentiment is from Timeless Arrangements Bundle, a sneak peek from the new annual catalogue.  I love the border that this die gives the banner.

Inspire.Create.Stamping Challenges #140

I had a bit of spare time this weekend so decided to go in search of some challenges to join in with.  This one from Inspire.Create.Stamping Challenges uses such beautiful bright colours it caught my eye.  I don't usually go for such bright colour combos, but with these colours retiring at the end of the month I decided to embrace the challenge.

I used the swoosh from Season of Chic (which is thankfully not retiring) and used it to stamp each of the challenge colours then stamped over them using the line image from Colour & Contour stamp set (also not retiring).  I used the daisy stamp from the same set to stamp on the background of the base card, and coloured some pearls with coordinating Stampin' Blends.  This was a quick and easy card to make and would be good to create if you needed quite a few cards.
