Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.
This week is our final challenge using the projects in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue as our inspiration. Today is in fact the last day of Sale-A-Bration for this catalogue, although we are having a second SAB later in the year which is an exciting initiative from Stampin' Up! this year.
I chose this card from page 5 as my inspiration, and I think it caught my eye because of the use of DSP. I have earned quite a bit of the lovely SAB DSP this year and so have been looking for more ways to use it in my projects.
For my project I decided to use a more muted colour palette and thought I would use some of the Paper Blooms DSP for this card, using it for the three panels on the back as well as fussy cutting out some of the larger flowers and leaves from some of the sheets. I did add some sparkly coloured dots from my retired stash because they coordinated so well.
Here's a little tip to get the most out of your DSP. Firstly though I just wanted to apologise for the horrible way the colours have come out, but I took it on my desk while I was working and not in nice natural light. When cutting images out of DSP don't just discard the incomplete images cut off by the edge of the paper, or that are overlapped with other images. These cut out pieces above are what I used on my card, and with cleaver layering you would never know they aren't complete images I have used.
I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples in the SAB catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.
Time to hop on over and see what Julia has created this week.
Happy Stamping
Monique
Your card is wonderful! The soft colours are really pretty. I love the tip on using partial images, that's my kinda style too!

ReplyDeleteLovely card. Your flower bunch looks amazing and you’d never guess it was the off cut pieces. Great way to use up those edge pieces etc. A great crafter never throws anything away 😀
ReplyDeleteI love how you have used the flowers from the edges!! Great tip!
