CTC #159 - Christmas Inspired Mermaid

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take inspiration from one of the current Stampin' Up! Catalogues to create our projects for the week.

This wee we are taking inspiration from any project in the 2017 Holiday Catalogue, keep in mind that this catalogue will cease on 2 January 2018, and although some items are carrying over, many favourites are retiring, so pop on over to my on-line store before the end of the year.

Now onto my project, I decided to CASE this cute little reindeer card, keeping with the general layout of the card, but making it a birthday rather than Christmas one.

I used the new Magical Day bundle from the upcoming Occasions Catalogue, live on 3 January. I love this bundle so much, especially because the framelits include a little one that cuts out the tiny seahorses!!! No fussy cutting required.

One of the things I love about the coordinating DSP is that one side of each sheet has a glitter feature, on the card here I have used the paper with glittery little bubbles to go with my underwater mermaid theme.  I have also used some of the stunning glittery Washi Tape from the suite which is so sparkly, and sadly neither the bubbles or the washi show up well in the photograph.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just  CASE any project from the Holiday catalogue and upload a picture of your creation to the CTC Facebook Page

Time to see what Angela has created to inspire you this week.

CI #24 - Tranquil Christmas

Welcome to another Colour INKspiration challenge, where a group of South Pacific Stampin' Up! demonstrators take inspiration from an image by picking out the main colours and using them in our projects.

For this challenge we are taking our inspiration from this cute image of Christmas trees on a mantle. The colours are
  • Tranquil Tide
  • Pool Party
  • Cherry Cobbler
  • Blushing Bride

I had a few thoughts for my card for this challenge, then when sorting through some cards I had made found one where I used Swirly Bird to make some ornaments, and just knew I wanted to try out the colour combo from our challenge to recreate it.  I loved the idea of how the colours paired together so well, with the softer shades used for the ornament base, then adding the swirl in the darker colours.  I added a branch and sentiment from Peace This Christmas set in Tranquil Tide to coordinate with the base layer of the card. A few Rhinestones and Faceted Jewels finished off the card with a bit of bling, and who doesn't like that at Christmas!

I hope the team inspires you to join in the challenge this week, just use the colour combo to inspire your creation then post a picture of your project to the CI Facebook Page.

Time to hop on over and see what Elizabeth has create this week.

CTC #157 - CASE A Colour Combo

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take inspiration from one of the current Stampin' Up! catalogues to create our projects

This week is CASE a Colour Combo from either the Annual or Holiday Catalogues, whether this is the colours from a suite of products, or an individual project.

I spent some time flicking through the catalogue, there are so many unexpected colour combos that I don't think I would naturally put together, it was like looking at the catalogue for the first time!  It really is amazing the amount of inspiration these glossy pages provide.  I settled on the card in the above image which is located on page 130 of the Annual Catalogue.  I liked the use of the ombre DSP and the touch of Pool Party which I would not normally pair with Rich Razzleberry.

I saw a card recently using the Falling Flowers stamps and coordinating Framelits and it reminded me how much I love these images, so it was easy for me to reach for those as the starting point to my design.  I had stamped the flowers in black but it was too strong, so switched over to Rich Razzleberry, colouring the flowers with Watercolour pencils, but left without the water colouring. These pencils give such capacity for shading that I knew they would pair well with the ombre paper.

The sentiment is a combination of a stamp from Sunshine Sayings with the Lovely Words Thinlits, trimming the word "friend" away from the frame. This I raised on mini Dimensionals to add some depth and allow shadows to form under it.

I hope you are inspired to join us this week, just choose a colour combination from within the pages of the current Stampin' Up! Catalogues and add a picture of your resulting project to the CTC Facebook page.  Don't forget to tell us which image inspired you.

Time to hop on over and see which colour combo Angela has been inspired by this week.
