CTC #315 - Favourite Retiring Kit

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the retiring kits in the Annual and Mini Catalogues.  I do love kits and there was one that really caught my eye as soon as I opened the annual catalogue almost a year ago, and that is the Boho Indigo Product Medley so I knew I had to take my inspiration from that for this challenge.

I was inspired by this image from page 6 of the Annual catalogue. I like to have a really close look at the projects in the catalogue on  my computer screen so they are really quite large as I find that I notice details that I might otherwise miss.  It was certainly true for this card when I realised that the background DSP is actually made up of pieces from many of the sheets in this pack, and not just a single pattern!

I do apologise for the photography on this card, I think I left it a bit late in the day and the sunlight was quite yellow.  I still think it sows off the different patterns of DSP quite well, I also used some of the die cut shapes and the ribbon that was part of the Medley as well as cutting some of my own using the coordinating dies.  The cute little felt flowers make such a nice addition to this project, and I couldn't help adding a few of the Gold Glitter Enamel Dots which are also retiring and I am going to miss them so much.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples from the kits in either catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Julia has created this week.

ESAD - Farewell 2020 - 2021 Annual Catalogue

Welcome to another ESAD Blog Hop, whether you have stared with my blog, or have hopped on over from Narelle, just keep following the links at the bottom of each post to hop around all the blogs until you get back to where you started.  This hop is a chance for us to say farewell to some of the retiring items in the Annual Catalogue.

I decided to make a little bag of cards using the stamp set from the Boho Indigo stamp set, and some of the lovely papers from the Dandy Garden DSP in the mini catalogue which will also not be carrying over into the new catalogue.  I saw the design for this little bag while watching Sam Hammond from Pootles Papercraft's YouTube tutorial on How to Make an Accordion Card Gift Wallet, which I will put a link to right at the bottom of this post.

I did make some adjustments to the Accordion Card holder, as I didn't like the small flap and ribbon closure, so I made mine a little bit longer and just tucked it behind the vase of flowers on the front to close it.

I made some changes to the original gift card wallet to create a longer flap and to use 6"x6" DSP instead of a single piece cut from 12"x12". I cut two pieces of DSP at 3.5" x 6", scoring at 3.5" and 5" on one of them. This left a 1" extra piece at the back to which I attached the second piece of DSP, the darker part of the image above shows where they overlap, just make sure the new piece sits on the outside of the first piece and the join will be hidden inside the box. I then went ahead and scored at 8.5" and 9.25" as if it were a single strip of paper. If you wanted to use a piece of 12"x12" DSP you would cut it at 3.5" x 11"  and use the same scoring positions above.

While the vases on the main case and the cards looks the same they are actually the same stamp but on the cards I used one of the smaller vases to cut it out as my card fronts were a bit smaller and it looked cramped having the full sized vase on the card.

The cards are 3" x 6" folded in half, with 2-3/4" square pieces of DSP, you can get four of these little cards from a single sheet of 6"X6". I put four cards and our Basic White envelopes in the wallet, but it could easily fit double this many. A great project to show off our wonderful DSP collections, or to give as a gift.

Time to hop on over and see what the lovely and talented Lou has created with to farewell our Annual Catalogue.

CTC #314 - Favourite Retiring Punch

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from retiring punches, which one will you miss the most?

I love the Scalloped Tag Topper punch and are going to miss this one a lot. While the above project, from page 126 of the annual catalogue, doesn't use the Scalloped Tag Topper it reminded me of one of the things I love about this punch. I love using it to make a belly band for a card or 3D project so I decided to do that for my project this week.

I am really going to miss the Forever Greenery DSP when it retires at the end of the current catalogue, it is perfect for this card. I love the images and colours, so beautiful, and this design of card really lets the DSP shine. The little tag is also retiring as is the sentiment stamped in Old Olive and Pretty Peacock to coordinate with the DSP.

When I was choosing a paper for the belly band I liked the lined paper above but wanted it to be closer to Old Olive than Soft Seafoam. Easy fix with my Blending Brushes, I just built up colour until I was happy with it. Have I mentioned how much I love these brushes? I have one for each major colour groupings and it makes it so easy to add some additional colour to a project.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the retired punches to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #313 - Favourite Retiring Stamp Set

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from our favourite retiring stamp sets, and while there are a few that I could have chosen, one that I will really miss is the So Sentimental set, which I have really loved using. I loved the samples using this set so much I have CASE'd two of them this week, both from page 74 of the annual catalogue!

I love a card that has a bold sentiment as the main focal point, and this is one reason I am going to miss this set. I also love a mixed font sentiment so it ticks that box also.

I decided to replicate the card keeping fairly true to the original, but changing up the colours and DSP I used. The sentiment is the only stamped image on this card, the rest of the flowers cut from the beautiful DSP.

The second card I am CASEing is from the same page, and again I love the mixed font and how the sentiment is the main feature on the card. I also loved the gilded parts on this card and wanted to replicate it using some of my new catalogue products.

The DSP on this card is from a pack called Simply Elegant, and boy is it elegant, this DSP is just stunning.  I love how it mixes gold and silver, so I don't have to choose which to add. I also think the Basic Grey that is paired with it makes the foiling just stand out and look more beautiful and elegant.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples from your favourite stamp set to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #312 - Favourite Retiring Dies

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration for our projects from the retiring dies.

I was inspired by this image from page 43 of the Annual Catalogue, and features the Many Medallions Dies. Now these dies are not something that I purchased from the catalogue but I did purchase the stamp set that was part of this bundle, Many Mates, and I am really sad to see this one go, I have loved the variety of sentiments in this set.

Because I hadn't purchased the Dies I decided to be creative in how I re-created the background for this card and used some of the lovely Fine Art Floral DSP, fussy cutting the panel and layering over another piece of DSP from the same pack.  I stamped the focal sentiment in Cajun Craze and coloured with Pumpkin Pie Watercolour Pencils, boy am I happy those are not retiring!  Other retiring products featured on this card include Braided Linen Trim, Gold Glitter Enamel Dots (so sad), and Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use samples using any of the retiring dies to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.
