CTC #196 - Santa's Workshop

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take a look at one of the sections of a current Stampin' Up! catalogue and use the projects within it to inspire our own creations.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the Santa's Workshop section of the Holiday Catalogue, pages 18 - 27.

I was inspired by the cute little gift bag in the centre of the image from page 23.

I decided to make a card using very much the same layout as the original, layering Soft Sea Foam over Shaded Spruce. One of the things about a colour refresh is learning how our new colours coordinate with each other and our existing colours. I am really liking the contrast of the very soft and darker greens together. I did add some Copper Metallic Thread and added some Gold Shimmer Paint to the little circles on the leaves ... I am really not sure what to call them but I sort of think of them as seeds or buds!

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples in the All Is Bright section of the catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Julia has created this week.

CI #41 - Introducing the Re-Vamped Regals

Welcome to another Colour INKspiration challenge, this one is looking at the lovely new re-vamped regals collection of colours.

Don't be overwhelmed by them all, for the challenge you just need to choose 3 of them, and as usual you can also add any of the basic colours (black, white and vanilla).

I have had these Copper Tea Tins for a while now, not sure of what project I wanted to use them for, then this challenge came up and I knew I wanted one of them to be a Christmas tin.  I am really happy with the result, and it was pretty easy to make even though there seem like a few elements ... Stampin' Up! is great like that.

I started with wrapping the tin in Dashing Along DSP, layering both sides of a single sheet as each on their own was a bit too much. The label is from Stitched Label Framelits stamped with one of the great sentiments from Peaceful Poinsettia, as are the little holly leaves which cut out with coordinating Framelits from the bundle. The fine holly leaves are also cut using the same Framelits and layered in Old Olive and the lovely new Copper Glimmer Paper.

I hope you are inspired to join in with this challenge, as I mentioned at the start of my post you have three weeks to complete this one, so grab your inks and papers then post a picture of your project to the CI Facebook Page.

Time to hop on over and see what the lovely Rebecca has created with the colours.

CTC #195 - Festive Farmhouse

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take a look at one of the sections of a current Stampin' Up! catalogue and use the projects within it to inspire our own creations.

This week we are taking inspiration from the Festive Farmhouse section of the Holiday Catalogue, pages 12 - 17.

I chose the cards in the above image from page 12, using the general layout of the one on the left, and the colours of the one on the right.

I just love my Stamparatus, it made lining up the holy images on the top and bottom of my card so easy, and you wouldn't know they had been stamped multiple times and not a single stamp.  The first layer of DSP is from Tranquil Textures, and in keeping with the stitched oval for the main sentiment I used a Stampin' Write Marker to add some faux stitching to the edges. The next layer is from Dashing Along a lovely DSP pack that hostesses can earn through  the month of September. The main sentiment and holy stamps are from Peaceful Poinsettia which has some lovely images and sentiments and a coordinating Framelit which makes it a perfect bundle for Christmas.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples in the All Is Bright section of the catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

ESAD Holiday Catalogue Blog Hop

Welcome to another ESAD Blog Hop, this hop we are focusing on creating projects using the wonderful new products in the Holiday Catalogue which runs from 5 September 2018 - 2 January 2019.

I wanted to share with you a couple of projects I have made using the super cute Tags & Tidings Bundle. This bundle has only two pieces, one stamp and one Framelit, but these two items stamp and cut 16 different little tags! These little tags can be used individually as little tags or layered together to create more intricate tags. Don't be deceived though, they can also be used to make greeting cards, which is exactly what I am going to show you.

For my first card I stamped the whole image onto Lemon Lime Twist cardstock that I cut down to fit onto the front of one of the new (and gorgeous) Foil Edged Cards & Envelopes. These come in either gold or silver and have matching envelopes as well, so are perfect for mass producing Christmas cards. I then stamped the images again onto Whisper White cardstock using Memento Ink and coloured some of them with Stampin' Blends before cutting the tags out. For the some of the tags I cut off the little loop and then adhered to the card with dimensionals. You could make multiples of this card just using different coloured pieces for each one!

I really really love the little gingerbread man stamp and so decided to use a few of them to make a banner on my card.  What better to pair it with than some of the stunning Joyous Noel Speciality DSP, what makes it speciality you might ask? Well one side of each sheet has beautiful copper foiling embossed into the page, on this sheet you can see some of the leaves are actually copper foil. It adds such richness to any Christmas project.  I used one of the other tags from the stamp to add the Christmas greeting, hand trimming it and then layering it onto Copper Foil cut with the Framelit.

I have a tip for you to use if you need to cut multiple images from the stamp for some reason:

Step 1: Position your stamp on your block, or here I did it on my Stamparatus which makes the whole thing soooo much easier.  Stamp the part of the image you want to use onto a large piece of photocopy paper, and trim out just the image you want to use.

Step 2: Cut a strip of cardstock (I used Whisper White) and position it in the opening and stamp the image. I found using a Stampin' Spot made this whole process so much easier.

Step 3: Slide your strip of cardstock along until you can't see your stamped image. Re-ink and re-stamp your image. Repeat this process until you have filled your strip.  I had to turn mine around at one point as it hit the edge of the Stamparatus.  Don't worry about the smudges, they won't matter as you are going to cut them out with the Framelit anyway.  This was my first attempt and I think I cut too big a piece out from my mask!

Step 4 & 5: Colour each image and then cut the strip into pieces before running through the Big Shot. Sorry there aren't pictures of this step, I was just too excited to get them onto the card!

The Tags & Tidings Bundle is a lot of fun and the possibilities are endless, after you have finished the hop you can check out this video from Stampin' Up! that shows how the bundle goes together and some other projects you can make with it.

Time to hop on over and see what Maree has chosen from the Holiday Catalogue for her creation.

CTC #194 - All Is Bright

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take a look at one of the sections of a current Stampin' Up! catalogue and use the projects within it to inspire our own creations.

This week we are taking inspiration from the All Is Bright section of the new Holiday Catalogue ... that's right we have a brand new holiday catalogue that goes live on 5 September and boy is it full of some amazing projects!

I was inspired by the tag in the above image from page 8 of the Holiday Catalogue, and used it as the basis of a card for this challenge.

There are some simply stunning products in this new catalogue and I decided to show off just a few of my favourites in my card this week.  One that is close to the top of the list is the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (whew that is a mouthful).  I used it to create the Bermuda Bay panel, using the folder to emboss the cardstock before lightly sponging areas with Versamark ink then sprinkling on Copper Embossing Powder. The photograph never shows things up as good as they look in person, but this gives a tarnished copper look to the panel which I absolutely love.

In this close up you can see the gorgeous Speciality DSP I have used from the Joyous Noel suite, one side of each piece has copper foil accents which give this paper such a rich feel. I love how the pattern on this one mirrors the deer stamp from  Dashing Deer which I stamped and die cut out as the feature on this card.  The little leaves are cut with another set of Framelits, Detailed Poinsettia, I think the holly leaves are particularly lovely so cut them from Copper Foil.

Finishing off the card is a little tag cut using the Christmas Tags Thinlits which is a cool single Framelit that cuts out 16 tags at once! It has a coordinating stamp to match all the tag shapes, but for this card I used a sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings.

This is just a little taste of the amazing products in this catalogue to help us all get in the Christmas spirit.  If you don't already have a demonstrator and would like a catalogue please let me know in the comments and I will send one out to you.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples in the All Is Bright section of the catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Peta has created this week.
