CTC #425 - CASE This Sketch

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from layout of the cute balloon card on page 18 of the Annual Catalogue.
Here is the sketch in its simplest form. I used to struggle with card elements that weren't on "straight" but now days I quite like a panel off centre!  Its funny how our tastes change over time.

I really love how the colours in this card work together, although they are not the colours I usually reach for.  I did use a retired die on this one for the "Just want to say" part of the sentiment, but I really wanted the Tahitian Tide layer to show through.  I am having fun finding sentiments in my collection that fit with the starry sky and planet theme of this DSP, and I think "you are amazing beyond measure" certainly fits. What do you think?

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the sketch to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #424 - CASE Love, Thanks & Support

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from the Love, Thanks & Support section of the Annual Catalogue, pages 62 - 77.

I was inspired by this card from page 70 of the Annual Catalogue. In the catalogue this card is easy to miss but I like the use of the DSP to create a simple but interesting background.

I love the neutral tones and textures of the Earthen Elegance DSP and thought it would be great to use in this card.  I did keep with a blue panel in line with the original, also from the same DSP pack.  I used the Painted embossing folder on the bottom section to give a different sort of texture to the card.  The sentiment and die cut are from Waves of Inspiration stamp set and coordinating dies. The little fronds are a sneak peek from the new mini catalogue a bundle called Translucent Florals.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the projects in the Love, Thanks & Support section of the Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #423 - CASE Fresh As A Daisy DSP

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from the gorgeous Fresh As A Daisy DSP.  I wasn't immediately drawn to this DSP pack, but seeing it used in a few projects by other demonstrators made me change my mind.

Here is the beautiful DSP with the main colours listed, the image taken from the on-line store.  The colours are Copper Clay, Wild Wheat, Pretty Peacock, Boho Blue, Moody Mauve and Pebble Path.

I managed to get all of the colours in my card except for Moody Mauve, I did try but it looked better without!  I went looking on Pinterest for a new technique to try and found the Floating Strips Technique which I thought would be fun to try.  It is really quite simple, just cut your DSP into strips, mine are 1/2" and adhere them to a piece of Window Sheet.  I used 1/8" strips of cardstock to ensure there was even spacing between the strips, but that is optional (unless you really appreciate even spaces lol).  Then I cut the piece of Window Sheet using my Deckled Rectangles dies and adhered to the card using Dimensionals to raise it  up off the card front.  I found the background DSP using Wild Wheat was a bit dark and heavy for the look of my card, so instead I made my own patterned cardstock by dragging the Wild Wheat ink pad across Basic White cardstock.  If you drag quickly you get very feint colour, if you slow down the colour intensifies, I purposefully varied the speed to get a more uneven finish.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the colours of the Fresh As A Daisy DSP to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #422 - CASE A Bundle Project

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from the bundles at the back of the Annual Catalogue, pages 155 - 160.  One of the wonderful things that Stampin' Up! does is creates samples for the bundles using different colours than when they are featured in the catalogue.  I find that sometimes this makes the bundle appeal more to me due to colour or style preferences.

I was inspired by the layout of this card from page 158, I thought it would be a good way to showcase some of the lovely DSP in the Fresh As A Daisy pack.

Having a good look at the Fresh As A Daisy DSP I decided to use one of the larger daisy images from the DSP as the feature image.  I cut the leaves off the flower and adhered them directly to the card, moving them to where I thought they fit best.  I then stamped the sentiment and added the daisy using Dimensionals to give it more depth.  I love how this card turned out and think the colours are so beautiful together.  I think this is a really great way to show how this DSP pack can be used without having the coordinating stamp and dies bundle (I don't own it!).

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples in the Bundles section of the catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.
