CTC #348 - CASE This Sketch

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from this card on page 47 and using its layout or sketch to inspire our creations.
Here is the sketch broken down into its basic elements.  I haven't traditionally liked asymmetrical layouts but I have been trying to stretch myself a bit so this was a fun challenge for me.

I chose two of the DSP patterns in the Eden's Garden Suite and love how these go together with the dark foreground and pale background. With the gold accents in the DSP I decided to add more gold leaves behind the sentiment panel and gold twine. I love the level of sparkle on this card.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Rachel has created this week.

CTC #346 - CASE A Card & Give it a Christmas Twist

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking any of the card projects and giving them a Christmas twist, this gives a wide range of options and I am excited to see what everyone creates.

I was inspired by this image from page 18 showcasing the Days to Remember stamp set. I bought this some time ago but am a little embarrassed to say that until this project it hadn't seen ink!

This stamp set has a clever stamp that has been designed so that you can choose seven columns of numbers it will equal the dates of any month. Not only that but it was designed so that seven columns is the exact width of one of our stamp pads!

I kept to the same general layout as the original but chose December for my month and highlighted the 25th of course.  Adding die cuts from the Frosted Gingerbread Bundle as the embellishing features.  The sentiment is from a retired stamp set, but it was the best one I had to fit the space.  Some added rhinestones and copper twine from my stash finish off the project and give it a bit of sparkle.  This is a great layout to use for someone's birthday, mother's day, father's day or anniversary.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #345 - CASE The Colours of the Blackberry Beauty DSP

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the colours of the Blackberry Beauty DSP. These colours are Polished Pink, Blackberry Bliss, Rich Razzleberry, Early Espresso, Cinnamon Cider and Gold.

When I was flicking through the catalogue I spotted this card on page 96 of the Annual Catalogue and knew I wanted to CASE it at some point, and this challenge seemed perfect.

I had just received my Expression in Colour Paper Pumpkin kit when I was looking at this challenge and decided to use one of the cards in the kit for the base of my card. I love the technique used to make these beautiful backgrounds, although have had no luck trying to recreate it myself.  The daisies are stamped using Colour and Contour stamp set, and the sentiment is from the Paper Pumpkin Kit and I think works perfectly with this card. Do you make alternatives from card kits or stick to the original projects?

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #344 - CASE An Embossing Project

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the embossing projects in the Holiday Catalogue. This includes heat embossing or embossing folders.

I was inspired by this image from page 43 of the Holiday Catalogue, I love this Merriest Moments Bundle, from the gorgeous embossed image to the coordinating dies to cut it out with to the sentiments in the stamp set.

I have done a lot of projects lately that have featured more traditional colours so for this challenge I decided to go with a Highland Heather and Balmy Blue combo.  I also used a sponge dauber to add some Whisper White Craft Ink to the embossed Highland Heather layer.  This bundle has some great leaves and poinsettia images and dies which makes layering so easy.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #343 - CASE An Animal Card

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from projects featuring animals from either the Annual Catalogue or the Holiday Mini Catalogue.

I was inspired by this image from page 30 of the Holiday catalogue, I think the little animals peeking out of the stockings is really cute.

I also loved the layout of the original with the wide strip behind the focal panel.  I decided to change up which layer was cardstock and which was DSP, using my favourite Tidings of Christmas paper and coordinating stamp set and die bundle. I love Evening Evergreen and think it pairs beautifully with copper foil and campaign rhinestones.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #342 - CASE A Favourite Mini Catalogue Project

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from one of our favourite Mini Catalogue projects, I say "one of" as there are too many lovely projects to choose just one as a favourite!

I was inspired by the card on the bottom right of this image from page 18. I love the use of vellum and the various ways you can use it to add layers to a card.  I also thought this layout would be great to use with my favourite Tidings of Christmas DSP.

For my CASE I decided to add two layers of vellum, because two layers are better than one! I used the lovely Soft Succulent In-Colour Shimmer Vellum on the bottom layer and regular vellum on top. It is so hard to photograph the beautiful shimmer to the vellum. I have kept loosely to the layout of this card, but used a larger sentiment and added the leaves and berries to the top rather than the bottom of the sentiment panel.

I love the Label Me Lovely Punch, but it is a smidge small for this sentiment.  I have found that by adding another punch layer to the sides it makes the punch out seem more elongated and with the coordinating colour it distracts from the little parts of the font that are clipped off the edge.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #341 - CASE A Glittery or Sparkly Project

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from any sparkly or glittery project in the Holiday Mini Catalogue.

This project from page 26 of the Holiday Catalogue stood out to me because I liked the way that the gold had been added to the Paper Lattice from the Annual Catalogue to add the sparkle to this card.
The original seemed to have it added to only part of the lattice, but I decided to cover the whole sheet with Gilded Leafing, firstly adding Tombow Multipurpose glue to it with a sponge and waiting until it was tacky then adding the leafing ... boy did that make a mess, but a pretty mess!  Sentiment and images for this card are from Merriest Moments, stamped in Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent stamped off.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #340 - CASE A Bundle

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the Bundles on pages 65 to 71 of the Holiday Mini Catalogue.

I was inspired by this image from page 65, I really like this DSP so this card caught my eye, but so did the image above it from the Frosted Gingerbread Bundle so I decided to combine the two and use Gingerbread & Peppermint products to create a card using this sketch.

I thought the little peppermint lollies in the DSP were perfect to add to the sentiment layered over DSP, I did use as the background a piece from the returning favourite, Heartwarming Hugs DSP.  I can almost taste the peppermint looking at this cute card, and it was simple and easy to create, just perfect for a Christmas Card.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.
