CTC #268 - CASE The Colours of Ornate Garden Suite

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

I was inspired by the colours in the new Ornate Garden Suite.

As with most colour based challenges I start by putting out on my desk ink pads for all the colours involved and see if it sparks an idea. I decided to make it easier for you and replicate the colours here.

This set of colours immediately made me think of leaves across the seasons, from the green of spring to the oranges of autumn and I reached for my Rooted in Nature stamp set.  I just built up layers of the leaves using full strength and stamped off leaves going from Mint Macaron to Terracotta Tile.  I love how this turned out, even better than I had imagined!

I knew i wanted to use a fussy cut sentiment rather than one on a banner. Now one thing I struggle with is fussy cutting around sentiments, I never seem to get the distancing right.  Then I noticed the red rubber left over from the stamps and knew it would be perfect!

First I stamped the sentiment, then lay the rubber over it so it was centred, then used a pencil to trace around the rubber. I took this picture with the sentiment on my scratch paper and you can see all my stamped off leaves ... I think they even look good here!

To finish off I trimmed the sentiment using the pencil line as a guide!  How easy is that? You can expect to see a lot more fussy cut sentiments from me in the future.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the colours of the Ornate Garden DSP to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Julia has created this week.

Social Stamping - Friends

Welcome to the Social Stamping blog hop, a lovely endeavour started by my stamping buddy Kelly Kent. You can read a bit about why this all started here.  This is the fourth week of the Social Stamping, but my first time joining in, and the theme for this week is Friend.

I thought I would start out by choosing a stamp set with "friend" in the sentiment, and to be honest I was really surprised how many sets I have that fit the bill! I ended up choosing this one from So Sentimental as I just love the way it fits in the coordinating framelits. I kept the design really simple because the beautiful DSP really doesn't need much added to it.

I liked the design and DSP so much I decided to make a second one using the same layout but in different colours, the white background DSP and a landscape layout.  To add the ribbon I punched holes in each end of the label and threaded it through.  I did cheat a little and added the bow separately!

Next in the social stamping hop is my lovely stamping friend Tanya Bell, just click on the button above to pop on over to see what she has created.

You can find the full list of participants on Kelly's post.

CTC #267 - Ornate Garden Week 1

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page

For the next two weeks we will be taking our inspiration from the Ornate Garden Suite which is a sneak peek from the new Annual Catalogue that you can purchase from now until 31 May 2020. Each week during the challenge the Design Team will post up creations inspired by this suite. You can be inspired by any of the images associated with this suite which you can find on the online shop (link on the left).

To learn more about this lovely suite, or to find a little more inspiration, you can watch this video by Stampin' Up!

I was inspired by this image as I found the simplicity of the design really appealing and the reduced colour pallet quite pretty.

As with all our challenges, you don't have to have the exact products in a suite or to match a card or project, just use the products you do have.  That was the basis of my card for the challenge, I am in love with the beautiful Flowering Foils DSP from Sale-A-Bration, and even though SAB is over for this year I thought the lovely big floral images would be perfect for this layout.  I started by fussy cutting the flower images and adhering them to a panel of 8cm x 11cm Whisper White card stock before cutting at 3cm and 8cm to create the three panels.  I decided to add some colour by fussing cutting some of the pretty little flowers and leaves from the Bird Ballad DSP, adding some Organdy Striped Ribbon.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples from the Ornate Garden Suite to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Rose has created this week.

CTC #266 - Week 2 - CASE This Sketch For Easter

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are using this sketch to create an Easter project.

I love the soft colours of this piece of DSP and decided to use it as the colour scheme for my card and used Petal Pink and So Saffron as my main colours. The pretty floral image from Easter Promise is just perfect as a feature piece on the card, and I think it looks really pretty with the scalloped Petal Pink background. I don't have Petal Pink Stampin' Blends, but by adding a touch of light Calypso Coral to the inner petals of the flowers and blending it with my light So Saffron Blend it adds some pink tones to the flowers.

It is a bit hard to see in this photograph, but I used my Subtle embossing folder on the Whisper White panel to add some soft texture to the card without detracting from the main images. The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the sketch to inspire your creativity and make an Easter themed project, then post a picture of it to the CTC Facebook page.
