CTC #450 - CASE The Holiday Mini

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from the September to December Mini Catalogue, this will be our last challenge for this catalogue, and the last one for 2023!  So just pick your favourite project, or one that challenges you to use a different colour scheme or layout and join in.

I was inspired by this card from page 21, I love how the sentiment stands out, but also the card has some lovely layers as well.

I decided that with the Shining Brightly DSP that the background was busy enough so I didn't add the foliage behind the sentiment. I did decide that a strip of ribbon and bow would finish it off nicely. This is such a lovely layout, my card measures 8.5cm x 14.8cm, so will still fit into a standard C6 envelope.

I had a couple of off-cuts so added them to the inside of the card to give it some interest.  Because this is a smaller than usual card, I didn't want to add a sentiment inside, rather have left the full space for writing my message.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the projects in the September to December Mini to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Rebecca has created this week.

CTC #449 - CASE Colours of Merry, Bold & Bright DSP

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from the colours in the Merry Bold & Bright DSP.

These colours are Melon Mambo, Poppy Parade, Crushed Curry, Granny Apple Green, Shaded Spruce and Blueberry Bushel.

I wasn't sure how I would get all of these colours into one card, but then I thought how cute they would be used with the Joy of Noel and Christmas Classics Bundles.  Stamping each of the letters in a different colour, and layering these on the Granny Apple Green die cut banner really makes them pop.  I added Poppy Parade berries to the banner as well.  The background embossing folder is a retired one that I thought layered nicely with these bundles.  A pop of gold behind adds an sparkly element.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the colours of the Merry, Bold & Bright DSP to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #445 - CASE the Garden Walk Section

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from the Garden Walk section of the Holiday Catalogue, pages 52 - 55.

I was inspired by this card from page 52, I liked the wreath made from the Deckled Circles Dies.

For my card I wanted to have a wider wreath shape as I wanted to try something a little tricky with the card, and a thin wreath wouldn't have worked as well.  I also think the wider wreath is a better option for the less sparkly gold DSP.  I chose the woodgrain sheet from Joy of Christmas DSP pack to give the feel of a wooden front door.  The tricky element with the card is that the wreath is actually adhered to the inside panel of the card, and lines up with the elements on the front of the card.

I achieved this by firstly adhering the wreath to the inside panel aligning it perfectly with hole cut in the front of the card.  I then added images stamped and cut from the Joy of Noel stamp set, trimming the edge of one of them with the deckled circle die that I used for the wreath (this is much easier to do if you mark the "top" of your die, ask me how i know!).  Without adhering any of the elements in place I kept moving them until I was happy with the overall look from the closed front, and the open card.

Even when the card is open the front panel still looks balanced, so I was really happy with how this turned out, not one to mass produce however!  It will be great to give to someone who appreciates the work that goes into a hand made card.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the projects in the Garden Walk section of the Holiday Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #442 - CASE This Sketch

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from this card on page 48 of the Holiday Catalogue. The lovely Rose has simplified it down into sketch format for us.

I thought this would be a great sketch for a quick and easy Christmas card, I have used the Joy of Christmas DSP and sentiment from Brightest Glow.  I sponged the edges of the DSP and sentiment piece with Crumb Cake to add a vintage feel, and wanted to have a bit of sparkle so added some Gold and Vanilla Satin Edged Ribbon.  For this card I added a thin strip of Basic White cardstock under the band of ribbon so that it pops against the DSP background.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the sketch above to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #441 - CASE an Annual Catalogue Project & Give It A Christmas Twist

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from any of the projects in the Annual Catalogue, then creating a CASE giving it a Festive Twist.

I was inspired by these cards from page 32 of the Annual Catalogue. I was drawn to the bright colours and the loved the progression from simple to very stepped up versions.

I wanted to try the layout and colours of the original cards, but gave it a Christmas Twist. I found it really hard to keep this card simple, just stamping and a couple of embellishments. So I decided to make a second card stepping it up a little like the original samples.

I used the same stamp set, Joy To You, I love its big bold sentiments.  The sentiments on both cards are stamped with Moody Mauve on the top and Blackberry Bliss on the lower half.  I added these two colours with Embossing Paste, with a touch of Dazzling Diamonds for some extra sparkle, and added it using an ombre effect on the card base.  I coloured a couple of Textured Elements with Stampin' Write Markers; did you realise that these are currently available as On-Line Exclusives?

This isn't a great photo, but it does show the sparkle that a little bit of Dazzling Diamonds gives to the background paste, and Wink of Stella on the Textured Elements.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use an Annual Catalogue to inspire your Festive project, then post a picture of it to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #440 - CASE A Mini Catalogue Embossing Folder Project

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from any of the projects in the Holiday Catalogue that use embossing folders.  You don't have to have an embossing folder to play along, you just need to have the embossing folder project inspire your own creation.

I was inspired by this card from page 32, I like the simplicity of the layout.

I decided not to create a Christmas card for this one, and instead used my Earthen Elegance Bundle and DSP as well as die cut from Timeless Arrangements dies. I love using the Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder with the Earthen Elegance Suite. I used my Pretty Peacock Blends pen to colour the linen thread and 2023-35 In-Colour Dots to coordinate with the project.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the projects using Embossing Folders, to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Let's Craft Together Blog Hop - Colour Challenge

Welcome to the monthly Blog Hop by Let’s Craft Together and thank you for joining us. We are a group of multi-cultural Stampin’ Up!® demonstrators in Australia who have developed a strong friendship though our love of stamping and our admiration of each other’s style of crafting.

Each month one of us sets a challenge that we use for the blog hop. This month’s is a Colour Challenge created by Michele Jutrisa using some of her favourite colours: Boho Blue, Parakeet Party, Berry Burst, Fresh Freesia and Lemon Lolly.  The challenge is to use at least three of these in a creative project. You might like to have a go at it yourself. If so, we would all love to see your creation.

I decided to challenge myself to use all five of the colours. With any colour challenge I get out my ink pads or card samples and start to move them around to see how they look together.  This combination of colours made me think of flowers, leaves and a clear spring sky.  To incorporate three colours into the flowers I used my blending brushes to add the colours in bands onto my stamp, I started with Lemon Lolly on the outer edge, then Berry Burst on the lower edge/centre of the flower; and finally I added Fresh Freesia to the space between the two, overlapping it a little.  I then darkened up the centre of the flowers by tapping my Berry Burst Blending Brush onto that part of the stamped image. I love how this turned out.  The background is created using a mask and embossing paste coloured with Boho Blue ink.  I think this gives the impression of looking through a lattice fence.

I brought the masking into the inside of the card, but this time just with the Blending Brush, using less pressure as I moved away from the corner.  To balance this I added a couple of the stamped leaves in the bottom right.

I am so pleased with how this card turned out, it was a request from my daughter who wanted a special thank you card to give to Jo, her student midwife, who has supported her through her pregnancy and birth of her first child.  Jo has been amazing and I was happy to make this card for her.

CTC #438 - CASE All About Autumn Suite

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from projects in the All About Autumn Suite.

I was inspired by this card from page 46 of the Mini Catalogue, I realise I am drawn to these shapes recently, and love that we can create them with either dies or punches ... or scissors if you have a good eye!

I have started on my Christmas card stint so you will see a lot of my CASEs reflecting the festive season.  I did want to keep the masking element of the original card, but as I was using DSP for the focal panel I decided to use my mask on the second layer. By adding this slightly smaller layer to the base card of the same colour it adds depth without distraction, which I like as cleaner lines appeal to me at the moment.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the projects in the All About Autumn Suite to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.
