CI #226 - CASE A Layout

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take a look at one of the sections of a current Stampin' Up! catalogue and use the projects within it to inspire our own creations.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the layout of any of the projects in the Occasions Catalogue!

I was inspired by this image from page 34 of the catalogue, I just loved all of the butterflies swarming up the card front. I have learned to look at the projects displayed in the catalogue and try and picture them in different colours or using different DSP as the ones chosen by the artists at Home Office don't always appeal to me. That was certainly the case with this card, the colour combo just isn't my style, so for this challenge I wanted to keep to the layout of the original but really change up the colour scheme.

I have been on a bit of a roll with the Floral Romance Suite lately, I guess I want to make the most of it before it's gone for ever. For this project I used the printed vellum from the DSP and added a kaleidoscope of butterflies. Don't you just love that term for a group of butterflies? I also added some of the pretty Frosted Flower Embellishments to the sentiment panel and to the background, but you have to look pretty closely to see them!

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just take one of the projects in the Occasions Catalogue and use it's layout to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what lovely project Michelle has created this week.

ESAD - So Long Old Favourites

Welcome to another ESAD Blog Hop, this time we are saying "so long" to our favourites that will be retiring at the end of May. I am featuring a suite that is one of my all time favourites, Floral Romance. I love just about everything about this suite and sadly the only carry over items from the suite are the Lace 3D embossing folder, and the cute little Frosted Flower Embellishments!

My first project is one I made for a dear friend using a needlework hoop as the base.  I was so pleased with this project that it was really hard to give it away, but as my friend has recently moved into a new craft room I know it will make a nice addition to her craft space. Because vellum can curl with age or humidity I decided to laminate the whole vellum sheet with a matte finish then fussy cut the leaves and flowers out, attaching them with hot glue.   I also added some of the fussy cut vellum flowers to the back-groud paper as well as the stamped images.

I love this suite so much I decided to also make a coordinating card. I love the sentiment from the stamp set, and the beautiful chubby oval die from the coordinating framelits.  To make the printed vellum pop on the dark background I added a layer of Whisper White cardstock, using glue dots behind some of the printed parts to adhere it securely.  I love the soft Rich Razzleberry Velvet Ribbon, which isn't strictly part of this suite, but sadly is retiring at the end of the current catalogue.

Which is your favourite retiring product or products?

Time to hop on over and see what the lovely and talented Kelly is saying a fond farewell to.

CI #54 - Black & White With a Splash Of Colour

Welcome to another Colour INKspiration challenge, where we match Stampin' Up! colours to the ones from an inspiration photo, and use them to create our projects.

Don't you just love this picture of these snuggling zebras? As the inspiration for this challenge we are using Black and White and adding a "pop" of colour, so just add a colour of choice that pops with this combo.

I chose Lemon Lime Twist as my pop of colour, I don't think we have another colour that is quite so bright.  I used to think it was a bit too bright but over the last two years I have really come to love this stunning colour and will miss it at the end of the current Annual Catalogue. I used Incredible Like You stamp set for the vertical lines using my Stamparatus to get them nice and even, and although they aren't truly straight I think they look quite good on this project.

If you look closely you can see the pretty Country Floral Embossing Folder on the top half of the card.  I added a few layers of Basic Black Baker's Twine to separate the two layers finishing it off with a cute little bow. The sentiment was cut with Stitched Labels Framelits and tucked under the twine bow.

I hope you are inspired to join in with this challenge, as I mentioned at the start of my post you have three weeks to complete this one, so grab your inks and papers then post a picture of your project to the CI Facebook Page.

Time to hop on over and see what the lovely Leonie has created with the colours.

CTC #225 - Easter

Happy Easter and welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take a look at one of the sections of a current Stampin' Up! catalogue and use the projects within it to inspire our own creations.

This week we are taking our inspiration from Easter projects, or from a regular project that you put an Easter twist on.

I was inspired by this image from page 61 of the Annual Catalogue.

I kept my card fairly similar to the original, swapping out the background DSP and sentiment.  I hadn't realised that these cute little flowers were part of the Apron of Love stamp set, aren't they so cute?

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples in either  catalogue to inspire your Easter themed creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Please hop on to see what the lovely Tina has created for this challenge.

CTC #224 - Favourite Occasions Big Shot Project

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take a look at one of the sections of a current Stampin' Up! catalogue and use the projects within it to inspire our own creations.

This week we are taking our inspiration from any of the Big Shot projects in the Occasions Catalogue.

I was inspired by this image from page 27 of the Occasions catalogue. I liked how soft and pretty it is, the use of the Well Said Bundle elements, and the background created with embossing paste and stamping.

When it came to CASEing the original I decided to head in a slightly different direction, keeping some of the main elements, but changing up the colour scheme to give it a richer and bolder feel.  I didn't have a doily stamp so decided to use my embossing paste and the large mandala mask, then sprinkling the damp paste with copper embossing powder. I love how the it turned out, adding the right amount of glam to the card without going over the top.

The copper twine is from the Notes of Kindness Kit, I really wish this was available to purchase as I would use soooo much of it!

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples of Big Shot projects in the Occasions Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Sandra has created this week.
