Succulent Garden

I have loved using my Oh So Succulent bundle so the Sunday Stamps challenge this week took my eye with its image and colour combo.

I made this cute little succulent garden using the bundle. My primary colours are Old Olive, Mint Macaron and Rich Razzleberry. I have built the garden in the saucer of a terracotta pot filled with black stones that I mixed with PVA glue to hold them in place. Once dried I added the pieces from the succulent bundle.

CTC #121 - Sale-A-Bration Last Call

Welcome to another CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, this week we are taking a final look at the Sale-A-Bration samples.  Sale-A-Bration ends this coming Friday so its the last chance to pick up some great free items, so don't forget to contact your friendly demonstrator before they are gone for good.
This week I was inspired by the card on page 4 of the SAB catalogue, I was particularly taken by the diagonal banner for the sentiment.

I wasn't so taken with the colours in this sample, preferring something a bit brighter, so decided to use the Just Add Ink colour challenge combo for the week.

You know I have been having all sorts of fun with my Oh So Succulent stamps lately and this challenge was no different, I think they look good in the bright colours.  To get the two tone effect I stamped directly onto the card stock, and for the solid stamps I stamped off to get the softer effect. I decided to add rhinestones instead of the pearls and left the bow off as I didn't think the card needed it with the extra bling.

I hope the design team are inspiring you to join in with the challenge this week, if so just add a picture of your creation to the CASEing The Catty Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Rachel has been inspired to create this week.

CI #06 - Succulent Birthday

Welcome to another Colour INKspiration challenge
Challenge inspiration colours this week are:
  • Night of Navy
  • Mint Macaroon
  • Calypso Coral
  • Gold (the image says foil, but gold of any type)

I have had my Oh So Succulent bundle close to hand recently as I prepare for a class next weekend, so it was an easy choice for this week's challenge.  I loved the succulent pot that Lou made for CI #02, but wanted mine to be a bit more glamorous so used gold metallic sheet to cut the lid of the Window Box framelit, then used the large floral framelit to give the pretty pattern before cutting it in half.  The night of navy behind the foil really makes it stand out I think.  I carried through the gold theme in the succulents, using Gold Embossing Powder to do the lined stamps.  I also decided the stark white background needed a bit of bling so splattered Gold Wink of Stella across the background.

One of the things I love about these succulents is that you can really make them any colour you like because in nature they come is such a wide range of colours - although I am not sure I have seen any navy ones before! I do think they add to the balance of the 'pot'.

Time to hop on over and see what Kim has created this week.

Don't forget to stop in at the Colour INKspiration Facebook Page to see the entries for the week. We would love you to join in by adding your entry to the page.

CTC #119 - SAB Inspiration

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty, this week we are taking our inspiration from pages 16 - 19 of the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.
I took my inspiration from the cute Hey Chick card on page 16, I just love this crazy chook.

I generally kept to the colour palette of the original, but used the Moroccan DSP instead of the Serene Scenery, I think it gives it a bit of a more edgy look.  Until I started to look closely at the card I hadn't realised that the little off-set yellow pieces were even there, I have made mine a bit more prominent.

If you would like to join in the challenge this week, pop on over to the Facebook group and add your creation to the page.

Colour INKspiration #5 - Pretty Pastels

Welcome to another Colour INKspiration challenge, I just love the soft pastel colours in the challenge this week. As usual you can add any neutrals to the challenge colours which are:
  • Blushing Bride
  • Soft Sky
  • Sahara Sand

I have to confess I had so many thoughts for the colour combo this week but was struggling a bit to solidify them into an actual project!  I knew I wanted to use the beautiful Dragonfly framelit, and the Falling In Love DSP.  It wasn't until I found the sketch for this week's Hand Stamped Sentiments that the card came together.

Can you pick which set the sentiment comes from?  If you guessed the That's the Tag Bundle you would be right, I love how you can use the elements from this set in different ways, not just on tags.

Time to hop on over and see what Mel has created this week.

If the the design team projects have inspired you to join in, or you would just like to see some other great projects pop on over to the Facebook page and see the entries for this week.

CTC #118 - Cool Treats

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty, this week we are taking inspiration from the Cool Treats section of the Occasions Catalogue, pages 32 - 45.

I chose the image on the left above from page 42 of the catalogue as my inspiration.

I used Sweet Sugarplum for my card, so that I could coordinate with the matching glimmer paper that has been released in the second offering of Sale-A-Bration products that you can earn for free up until the end of the month. You can see the glimmer paper behind the main panel on the card, I think it gives just a nice amount of sparkle - and as always I just can't capture it as well in the photograph. The cut out panel was made using one of the framelits from the Window Box set, I love how this is just perfect for the top of the window box, but works equally well as a feature on a card.  The sentiment is stamped in Versamark and then embossed in white and comes from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set. I decided the background needed a bit of something, so stamped onto it using the flourish from Timeless Textures.

I hope you have been inspired to join in with the team this week, just add a picture of your project to the Facebook album for this challenge by following the link here.

Next up in the hop is the lovely Rebecca, pop on over to her blog to see what she has created this week.

ESAD Blog Hop - Last Chance SAB

Welcome to another ESAD Blog Hop, this time around we are saying a fond farewell to some of our favourite Sale-A-Bration products. I have created two cards, one using Hey Chic stamp set from the original release, and for the second card the wonderful new glimmer paper from the second release of products.  With Sale-A-Bration finishing at the end of March if you fall in love with any of these products don't forget to contact your local demonstrator to see how you can earn them for FREE.

My first card is one that we made at a recent class where I show cased three different techniques with the wonderful new Watercolour Pencils.  Here I used Early Espresso and Basic Grey on the chicken randomly and then blended the colours together using a Blender Pen. I think this gives a really natural look to the chicken.  I love the sentiments from this set, and this one makes the card suitable for any occasion.

My second card uses the stunning dragonfly framelits to cut the Bermuda Bay glimmer paper, let me just say that I love this paper set, and am so happy I picked it up recently. I used the cute little dots once "full strength" and once stamped off.  I repeated the stamped off dots on the oval panel and finished off with a band of Bermuda Bay baker's twine.

One of the other techniques I showed at my class was scribbling on water colour paper and then blending the colours with an aqua painter.  Here I have cut the solid dragonfly out of the water colour paper to layer under the glimmer paper.
