CI #68 - Blues and Greens

Welcome to another Colour INKspiration challenge, where we match Stampin' Up! colours to the ones from an inspiration photo, and use them to create our projects.

This beautiful image has the colours: Shaded Spruce, Blueberry Bushel, Pretty Peacock, Coastal Cabana and silver. As usual you can also add any of the basic colours (black, white and vanilla).

I loved this colour combo as the inspiration image was one that I found some time ago and have been very excited to create using these great colours.  I wanted to make a project that is a little different to my usual crations, and started with a 10.5cm x 10.5cm base to my card. I loved the idea of layering silver foil under the base and top layers, off-setting the top layer by 90 degrees.  All of the stamps in this project come from Beauty Abounds.

I hope you are inspired to join in with this challenge, as I mentioned at the start of my post you have three weeks to complete this one, so grab your inks and papers then post a picture of your project to the CI Facebook Page.

Time to hop on over and see what the lovely Nikki has created with the colours.

CTC #256 - Give It a Holiday Twist!

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week the challenge is to take a project from the Annual Catalogue and put a holiday twist on it.

I close this card from page 122, I realised that I haven't used this stamp set in so long and thought it would make a lovely Christmas card.

I added a layer of Vellum behind the die cut pieces and coloured on the back of the vellum with various shades of green and red blends. I kept the embellishments more simple on my version, using the gold edging off the Metallic Edged Ribbon to add a touch of shine.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples in the Annual Catalogue as your inspiration, and put a Christmas twist on your version of it, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Sandra has created this week.

CTC #255 - Night Before Christmas

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilse the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page. Its just a little hop this week as many of the team have been travelling to the Stampin' Up! On Stage event for demonstrators. With prepping for my kitchen renovation starting tomorrow I wasn't able to go, but I did sneak in some time at my craft desk.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the lovely Night Before Christmas DSP and the images on page 24 of the Holiday Catalogue.

I was inspired by this image from the top right of the page, I loved how it just uses DSP as the background and feature layers and has a simple stamped image.  Cards like this are just so easy to reproduce which is exactly what is needed around Christmas time.

For my card I used a different paper from the Night Before Christmas pack, knowing it would coordinate well with the Christmas Gleaming stamp set and coordinating punch. I love how this sentiments fits perfectly inside the punched ornament! I used one of the Night Before Christmas Memories & More Cards and Envelopes as the base of my card.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the Night Before Christmas DSP and samples on page 24 to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Julia has created this week.

CTC #253 - CASE Come To Gather Suite

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where use the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the projects in the Come to Gather Suite, page 46 to 51.

I was inspired by this image from page 46, while the colours aren't my favourites, I did like the layers and texture it shows.

I know immediately that I wanted to use the papers and images from the Magnolia Lane Suite. I love the big magnolia, but because it is soooo big, I trimmed off the leaves and stem and just used the flowers from the Memories and More kit to decorate the background.  I really love the cursive script used in this sentiment, and prefer using a large sentiment on the front of a card, so this is perfect.

I coloured the magnolia with my Water Colour Pencils, layering up colour until I was happy, but then realised that I had overdone it a bit, and wished that I had a colour lifter like we do with our blends. It took me a little while to realise that we do have a colour lifter for our pencils ... a simple eraser!  I just used it on the petals of the flower to lift the depth of colour off and it also took away some of the obvious colouring lines that were showing up.  So happy with how it turned out.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples in the Come to Gather Suite to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Judy has created this week, I always love seeing how Judy decorates the inside of her cards.
