CI #30 - Pretty Pebbles

Welcome to Colour INKspiration Blog Hop.  Just a quick post from me as the blog hop has gone live and with it being my birthday I totally forgot to come back and write my post ... so just a few words ...
I love this inspiration photo and the beautiful colours within it:
  • Soft Sky
  • Cherry Cobbler
  • Fresh Fig
  • Island Indigo
  • Pumpkin Pie

I decided to use the Petal Passion DSP and colour the white flowers with some of the red based colours from the challenge.  I cut the lattice piece from the DSP to let the Soft Sky layer peek through before adding an Island Indigo lattice piece back in.

I hope you are inspired to join in with this great combo, just add a picture of your project using these colours to the CI Facebook Page.

Time to hop on over to Lou's blog to see what she has created this week.

CTC #171 - Final SAB CASE

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take inspiration from the beautiful samples in one of the current Stampin' Up! catalogues to create our project for the week.

Can you believe this is our last week of looking at the Sale-A-Bration (SAB), as SAB will end on 31 March!  So if there is anything from the current offering, don't hesitate to contact myself, or your own demonstrator to place your order.

For this final challenge I took inspiration from the first release SAB catalogue and this lovely card featured on page 7.

I had a play around with the emboss resist techinque, but then remembered the lovely SAB Springtime Foils DSP and decided to use that instead.  I used my Ivory Stampin' Blends to colour the background and changed decided the sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday looked better with a portrait orientation.  I also switched from Berry Burst in the original (I think) to Rich Razzleberry on my version of the card. The flourish and flowers are cut using the aptly named Flourish Thinlits.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just take inspriation from one of the SAB catalogues and use it as the basis of your project, then upload a picture to the CTC Facebook Page

CTC #170 - Tutti Fruitti

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take inspiration from one of the current Stampin' Up! catalogues and create a project.

This week we are looking at the projects in the Tutti Fruitti section of the Occasions Catalogue, pages 28 - 35.

I was inspired by the Easter card on the top right from page 30 of the Occasions Catalogue.

I did an almost direct receration, and will appologise for the quality of the photograph, I just couldn't get the lighting right today.  I used one of the beautiful stamps from Butterfly Basics, a set that hasn't seen ink for some time.  I stamped in Old Olive and coloured using Old Olive and Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends. The background panel was created by sponging Old Olive over the Springtime Foils DSP that I earned free from the Sale-A-Bration collection.

I hope you are inspired to join in with us this week, just upload a picture of your creation to the CTC Facebook Page

CI #29 - Vintage Birthday

Welcome to another Colour INKspiration challenge, where a group of South Pacific Stampin' Up! demonstrators take inspiration from a photograph, taking the main colours from it and matching them to ones from the Stampin' Up! range. We would love for you to join in each week, if you don't have the exact colours use ones that closely match.

The colours for this challenge are:
  • Crumb Cake
  • Chocolate Chip
  • Blushing Bride
  • Garden Green
  • Very Vanilla

I love the vintage feel of these colours, so used that as the basis of my card. I haven't had the chance to play with my Happy Wishes, one of the beautiful Sale-A-Bration sets you can earn for free until the end of March. I stamped in Chocolate Chip, let it dry well, then coloured with Stampin' Write Markers, this still smudged the colour slightly but I think that added to the vintage look.  The addition of some Crumb Cake sponging to the layers gives it a bit more of a vintage feel.

I hope you are inspired to join us in this challenge, just add a picture of your project using the challenge colours to the CI Facebook Page

Time to hop on over and check out Elizabeth's creation for this challenge.

CTC #169 - Sale-A-Bration

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take one of the lovely projects in a current Stampin' Up! catalogue and use it as inspiration in a project of our own.  The inspiration might come from the colour combination, layout or sketch, or some other feature.

This week we are looking at the current Sale-A-Bration catalogues, including the second release flyer.  This is the final month to earn Sale-A-Bration item for free before most of them are gone for good.

I took inspiration from the image on the 3rd page of the second release brochure. I have been quite drawn to these with my last Sale-A-Bration CASE coming from this set of cards too (the pink one), but this time I was drawn by the Rich Razzleberry and Pool Party combo of the bottom left card.

Much like my last challenge card I flipped the colours around so that I have Rich Razzleberry as the card base and accent, and Pool Party on the stitched circle Framelit piece. Instead of fussy cutting the leaves from DSP I cut them using the Petal Passion Bundle from the current Occasions Catalogue, choosing to use gold to bring out the small leaves on the DSP.

I wanted to draw your attention to the sentiment for a moment, I have double cut it with another Framelit from the Petals & More Thinlit Dies, by this I mean that I cut it once then moved the Die along to make the window for the sentiment a bit shorter and a better fit.  The other thing I did with this was to cut three of the flourishy pieces, trimming one down to extend just beyond the sentiment, you can do this the same way by re-positioning the cut piece in the Framelit to cut a piece off.  I then added two more pieces to widen the piece so it created a border around the sentiment. I was totally surprised to find how well the layers lined up - zoom in on this picture and you can see where I have done the layering.  I was in a bit of a rush to make this card, so didn't take pictures of the steps, but will be doing this again soon as I  love the look and will do some step by step pictures then.

I hope you are inspired to join in this week, just take your inspiration from one of the SAB catalogues and upload a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page

CTC #168 - Petal Passion

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take a look at one of the sections of a current Stampin' Up! catalogue and use the product samples within as inspiration for our own creations.  This week we are looking at the Petal Passion section, pages 22 - 27 of the Occasions Catalogue.

I took my inspiration from this cute card featured on page 24, with the original using pieces from the Petal Passion Memories and More Card Pack. I decided to mix things up a little and make the base of my card yellow and the flowers pink.

My most recent acquisition is the stunning new foil DSP in the second release of Sale-A-Bration, Springtime Foil. I used this for the background, adding stripes of colour with my Dark Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Blend pen and then cut two of the floral images from one of the other pieces in the pack and coloured them with Pink Pirouette and Old Olive. This DSP has a glossy finish and the Blends get a really watery look on it, very different to the smooth finish on Whisper White.  I think it works really well on this card.  The sentiment is from Colourful Season stamp set, I think it goes so nicely with these beautiful flowers.  Not having a ribbon to match I cut a strip of Rich Razzleberru cardstock 1cm wide and cut a "v" on each end then folded it over making sure I off set it a bit to allow both tails of the banner to show well.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge, just take inspiration from pages 22-27 of the Occasions Catalogue and post a picture of your project on the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what the lovely Sandra has been inspired to create this week.
