CTC #374 - CASE Retiring Mini Bundle

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the retiring bundles from the January to June mini catalogue.

I was inspired by this image from page 78 of the mini catalogue featuring the Dahlia Days Bundle. It was the background die cut piece that caught my eye and sparked a creative thought.

When I saw the background I wanted to see if I could recreate it using the Potted Succulents Dies and coordinating Simply Succulents stamp set.  Because this die cuts out very fine pieces of cardstock I decided to add the colour before cutting, using Petal Pink and Daffodil Delight and my blending brushes. I then trimmed around the succulents to remove the frame and just leave the succulents, the little one o the bottom right is actually fully detached and popped under my sentiment!  I am so pleased with how this worked out. I think in hindsight I should have done some embossing on the background but overall I think it worked out even better than it was in my head, don't you love when that happens?

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Rebecca has created this week.

CTC #373 - CASE An Embossing Project

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from embossing projects in either catalogue.

I was inspired by this image from page 69 of the Annual Catalogue.  The embossing on this one is pretty subtle, and to be honest it was the layout of this card that caught my eye, it was so inspirational that I actually made two cards inspired by this project.

Here is my first card. I have used the Jar of Flowers Stamps and in keeping with the inspiration project have embossed both the flowers and the container they are sitting in.  I have used Textured Chic to create the Background banner and Distressed Gold Specialty Paper on on the side of the banner and to create the container for the flowers.  For the container I coloured it with my Dark Evening Evergreen Stampin' Blend Marker to give it a different and more tarnished look.  I used the basic colour palette from the original card, and while I like it, this card it was a little pale for my taste, so I decided to create a second card.

For this one I have used a different sheet of the Textured Chic DSP to create the banner, and kept the Distressed Gold strip.  I have used some of the retired shimmery Vellum in Pale Papaya cutting and layering this using the Poppies dies.  I love how well these coordinate with the flowers on the DSP.

Let me know in the comments below which card you prefer, and why.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

SSC #284 - Split in Two Sketch Challenge

I have been wanting to spend a bit more time creating lately and so have turned to some of the challenge blogs that I follow to look for inspiration.

The Sunday Stamps sketch challenge caught my eye as it is a really interesting way to use and layer DSP.

I decided to use the Textured Chic DSP and one of the leaves from Splendid Thoughts, a stamp set sneak peek from the upcoming July-December Mini Stampin' Up! Catalogue. I stamped the leaves onto vellum and coloured the back side of the vellum with Stampin Blends. The leaves in the front were stamped onto Basic White and raised on Dimensionals.

Here is a close up of the main panel.  I used some of the new Distressed Gold Specialty Paper and also used my blends to colour it to give it an aged and tarnished look.  You can also see here the Stitched Greenery Die that I used on the background, I love how this gives some subtle detail to the background without being too distracting.

CTC #372 - CASE All Occasions Section

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the All Occasions section of the new Annual Catalogue, pages 12 - 45.

I was inspired by this image from page 20, I liked how the three panels were used behind the focal image and it has been ages since I have made a square card.

I used some of my favourite colours, Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent as the basis for my card and am showcasing the very pretty and versatile Texture Chic DSP which I am loving.  I have added a little bit of bling with my retired 2021-2023 In-Colour Jewels as the Evening Evergreen ones have just a bit of a gold look to them as they catch the light. The flower is from Colour & Contour and embossed in Gold.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.
