Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.
This week we are taking inspiration from the Garden Walk section of the Holiday Catalogue, pages 52 - 55.
I was inspired by this card from page 52, I liked the wreath made from the Deckled Circles Dies.
For my card I wanted to have a wider wreath shape as I wanted to try something a little tricky with the card, and a thin wreath wouldn't have worked as well. I also think the wider wreath is a better option for the less sparkly gold DSP. I chose the woodgrain sheet from Joy of Christmas DSP pack to give the feel of a wooden front door. The tricky element with the card is that the wreath is actually adhered to the inside panel of the card, and lines up with the elements on the front of the card.
I achieved this by firstly adhering the wreath to the inside panel aligning it perfectly with hole cut in the front of the card. I then added images stamped and cut from the Joy of Noel stamp set, trimming the edge of one of them with the deckled circle die that I used for the wreath (this is much easier to do if you mark the "top" of your die, ask me how i know!). Without adhering any of the elements in place I kept moving them until I was happy with the overall look from the closed front, and the open card.
Even when the card is open the front panel still looks balanced, so I was really happy with how this turned out, not one to mass produce however! It will be great to give to someone who appreciates the work that goes into a hand made card.
I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the projects in the Garden Walk section of the Holiday Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.
Time to hop on over and see what Rebecca has created this week.
Happy Stamping
