Colour INKspiration #36

Welcome to the second Colour INKspiration challenge for the month of June.

For this challenge we are using these wonderful images to provide the colour inspiration to our projects.  The colours are - Crushed Curry; Soft Suede; Basic Grey; and Silver Foil.

I have to admit I struggled with this challenge just a little bit.

Firstly I started to think I would make a project with Animal Outing which would be perfect with the giraffe, rhino and kangaroo images ... but that didn't work out quite like I was hoping.

Second attempt was to make a card using the flower image from Beautiful Promenade and some of the beautiful Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Speciality Paper, but that didn't really work either ... BUT I did love the flower and used it in my final project.

To create the look of the flower I stamped the solid outline in Soft Suede, then inking up the centre with Crushed Curry and then used my sponge dauber to add some subtle Basic Grey to the outside of the stamp.

I was pondering what to do then spotted my new cute little Kraft Pillow Boxes, which are great value costing only $8.75 for 10 boxes!  They have this cute little polka dot pattern that is pretty and subtle, and neatly hold three Lindt chocolates.

I added a strip of DSP  from Nature's Poem, I like the subtle leaves on this paper, adding foliage without the need to add extra texture and layers.  I finished this off with some Burlap Ribbon and pulled some of the silver threads from the Silver and White Baker's Twine which I looped behind the flower.

I hope you are inspired to join us for this challenge, if so use the challenge colours in your project and add a picture of it to the CI Facebook Page.

Time to hop on over and see what Jackie has created.

CTC #184 - Delightfully Detailed

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take inspiration from a section of one of the current Stampin' Up! Catalogues and use them as the basis for our creations. The team at Stampin' Up! put such effort into creating samples and it wasn't until I started to do this challenge that I really looked at the catalogue as much more than a catalogue of products.

This week we are taking inspiration from the Delightfully Detailed section of the Annual Catalogue, pages 38 - 51.

I chose the image on page 46 of the catalogue, I recieved the In Every Season stamp set as part of prize patrol at On Stage in April and have been itching to ink it up. I thought my first project would be to make a desk calendar like in the picture, but went with a card instead!

Here is my card, I kept the same basic layout as the calendar page, but used that pane as the front of the card. I decided to use a framelit from my new Stitched Labels Framelits to cut the circle from Gold Foil to make it stand out just a little. While I had that thinlit set out I decided to see if the Christmas sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings would fit in the little tab, and happily it did.

It was a measuring error that caused the gold layer to only peek out from the top and bottom, and I was going to re-cut, but then realised that I quite liked it this way rather than the full border. Sometimes I think I can be a bit quick to discard a mistake rather than rolling with it.

I don't usually take pictures in direct sunlight as they distort the colours a bit, but wanted to try and capture how lovely the Gold Embossing Powder looks on the Embossing Paste.  I finished off with some of the new Metallic Pearls.

I think this layout has such potential for birthday cards, adding the flower of the month for the person's birthday.  I think I might just be off to create one or two ... keep a look out.

I hope we are inspiring you to join in the challenge this week, if so just upload a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #183 - Animal Expidition

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty, where we take inspiration from a section of the current Stampin' Up! catalogue and use it as the basis for our creations each week.

This week we are looking at the Animal Expedition section of the catalogue, pages 26 - 37.

I decided to use the layout in this card from page 26, I was drawn to the layers of DSP.

I swapped out the kangaroo for the cute octopus from the Sea of Textures stamp set and added the coral etc from the coordinating framelits.

I used the new Subtle Embossing Folder on the cut out sand dollars to give them some additional texture. Here you can see a close up of the very subtle pattern it creates.

I hope you are inspired to join in with us this week, just add a photo of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what the lovely Fi has created this week.

CI #35 - New Neutrals

Stampin' Up! ® has just had a major colour revamp so to start off the new catalogue year at Colour INKspiration we've decided to feature a Colour Collection for the first challenge each month (2nd Wednesday) until we have showcased them all! The second challenge in the month (4th Wednesday) will be a Pinterest inspired pic as per usual just to mix it up a bit.

This month we are starting off with the NEUTRALS COLLECTION and you can choose any 3 colours from that range for your challenge project. We are also changing the rules about what else you can add to the mix; essentially just the Basics - Whisper White, Very Vanilla and Basic Black as well as metallics.

I love that the new range of neutrals include Night of Navy, Merry Merlot and Mossy Meadow - although I have to admit I keep looking for my Navy with my Regals!  I decided to use Night of Navy, Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso for my three colours this week, adding some Copper thread and foil to give it a pop.  There is only a little bit of Navy, using it with my Blender Pen to colour my bird and for the sentiment.

I love these leaf stamps from the Rooted in Nature set and how easy it is to make a background in coordinating colours.  I added a layer of Vellum to soften the look and added two more layers of vellum behind the Mossy Meadow frame after twining the branch through it. This allows the bird to pop out just a little bit more.  I am loving how frames look on the front of a card, and think I have officially entered my "frames" phase!

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge with the wonderful new Neutrals, just choose three of them to use in your project then post a pic to the CI Facebook Page.

Time to head over to see what Jackie has created this week.

CTC #182 - Tea Room

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop where we take inspiration from one of the sections of the current Stampin' Up! catalogues as the basis for our own creations each week.

This week we are looking at projects in the Team Room section of the catalogue, pages 13 - 26.

I took my inspiration from this card on page 17 of the Annual Catalogue.

I kept the layout farily similar, moving some of the elements around just a little as I thought they suited my card better. I used one of the papers from the Share What You Love DSP stack and coordinated my colours with it. I love how many colours are available in this paper stack, I have paired Rich Razzleberry, Crumb Cake, Mint Macaron, Tranquil Tide, Mossy Meadow and Grapefruit Grove.

I hope you join in the challenge with us this week, just use one or more of the project samples in the Tea Room section of the Annual Catalogue to inspire your project and post a picture of it on the CTC Facebook Page

CTC #181 - New Annual Catalogue Inspiration

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop where we take inspiration from one of the projects in the current Stampin' Up! Catalogue and use it as the basis of our own creations.

This is a very exciting week as we take our first look at the new Annual Catalogue! So many wonderful projects within the pages of this catalogue, I just love looking through for new inspiration for stamp sets I already own, as well as seeing the new colour combinations, card layouts and other great 3D projects.

I decided to flick through and pick the first project that really caught my eye, which was the cute little card at the top right of the image above. I am not sure if it was the cute platypus or the striking colour combo that did it, but it did catch my eye.

I decided to replicate the card layout for this and used similar elements on my own card, but using the Sea of Textures bundle for the stamped images.  I sponged coordinating colours onto the embossed background to give the effect of sunlight through the ocean, I was really happy with how it turned out.  The DSP strip is from the coordinating Tranquil Textures pack and I pulled out the Berry Burst flecks from this as the inspiration for the window frame.

I hope you are inspired by the team's creations this week and join in the challenge.  Don't worry if you don't have new sets to play with, you can use the ones you have on hand as long as your creation is inspired by one or more of the projects in the new catalogue.  Just add a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook Page.

Time to hop on over and see what Julia has created this week.
