CTC #188 - Inspired by Christmas

Welcome to another CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Challenge, where we look at the projects in one of the section of a current Stampin' Up! catalogue, and use it to inspire our own creation each week.

This week we are taking inspiration from the Holiday section of the Annual Catalogue, pages 94 to 103.

There are some great projects and products in this section of the catalogue, and I took my inspiration from this cute little box on page 103.

Now while I may love this section of the catalogue, I may not be quite ready to make a Christmas project, so I changed mine up and used my "go to" stamp set of the moment Beautiful Promenade.  What do you think?  I kept to the same basic layout as the original, just made mine into a card rather than a gift box. Adding some Copper Foil leaves and Metallic Thread to the flower really finishes the card off.  I wasn't sure whether to add a sentiment or not, but decided to add a fairly generic one from Itty Bitty Greetings cut with the small Stitched Framelit labels. These two products pair so nicely together.

Do you recognise the doily?  It is cut from the large doily in the Beautiful Layers Thinlits, but the original doily was just a bit big for my project so I trimmed it down to better frame the flower image. I added the resulting hexagon to Very Vanilla and trimmed again, I love how this lets the patter of the doily stand out from the underlying band.

This Thinlit is so versatile, you can trim it to a few different sizes just by following the straight lines of the pattern.  Here I have highlighted three alternatives, though you could do a fourth by cutting on the inside of the perforations at the centre. I used trimmed along the black line in the image above for my project.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, whether you create a Christmas themed project or just use the catalogue images to inspire one with a different theme, just add a picture to the CTC Facebook Page

Time to hop on over to see what Julia has been inspired to create this week.

Happy Stamping
