CI #46 - Bold and Bright

Welcome to another Colour INKspiration challenge, this one will run for three weeks, so you have time to be inspired by the gorgeous image and the Stampin' Up! colours we have matched to it.

This beautiful image has the colours: Blueberry Bushel, Balmy Blue, Lovely Lipstick, Gorgeous Grape, and Granny Apple Green. As usual you can also add any of the basic colours (black, white and vanilla) and metallics.

I struggled a little bit with this challenge and so decided to fall back on the inspiration from the catalogue, I can't show you which image I CASE'd because it is part of the new Sale-A-Bration catalogue and we aren't allowed to show the images yet.

I used one of the new stamp sets "Incredible Like You" which has some lovely floral images and sentiments.  It seemed the perfect way to use the colours for this challenge while still leaving some nice white space on the card.  A little tip for lining up the ribbon behind the image ... I decided on the length of the ribbon and using washi tape adhered it to a piece of cardstock off-cut.  I could then position on the card just where I wanted it, playing with the look of it on the horizontal and diagonal then adding the sentiment over the top with Dimensionals.

I hope you are inspired to join in with this challenge, as I mentioned at the start of my post you have three weeks to complete this one, so grab your inks and papers then post a picture of your project to the CI Facebook Page.

Time to hop on over and see what the talented Lou has created with the colours.

CTC #205 - From Birthday Comes Christmas

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take a look at one of the sections of a current Stampin' Up! catalogue and use the projects within it to inspire our own creations.

This week we are taking our inspiration from a birthday card and using it to make a Christmas card!

I was inspired by this image from page 70 of the Annual  Catalogue, I am not sure what drew me to it, but I did like the use of vellum on the card and knew I wanted to replicate that somehow.

I used some of the Joyous Noel DSP and kept with the use of vellum to create an overlay which mutes down the colours of the background. Rather than stamping on the next panel I decided to use another piece of the same DSP, but one without the copper embossing.  The sentiment was probably the hardest part of this card, but I think the White Embossing on Grey Granite works really well.

The vellum layer is only adhered under the next panel, this is an easy way to use vellum without having to worry about the adhesive showing, but it also allows some movement in the vellum which I quite like. In this close up you can see where I added some extra bling. Holly and pine leaves cut from coordinating copper and glimmer paper add a little sparkle, and Rhinestones coloured with the Bronze Stampin' Blends gives theme quite a coppery look to finish off the project.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples in the All Is Bright section of the catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #204 - Big Shot Inspired

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take a look at one of the sections of a current Stampin' Up! catalogue and use the projects within it to inspire our own creations.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the Big Shot projects in the Holiday Catalogue.

I was inspired by the two images above, the one on the left from page 8 and the one on page right from page 27.

The silver foil edged card was just perfect for my card, adding the lovely touch of luxury to the card base. The beautiful pine tree in the foreground and variegated stamping on the background were my inspiration from the card on page 27, and the  cute little deer in the foreground inspired by the card on page 8.  I added a little layer of white glimmer paper to give the sense of snow on the rolling landscape.  While we don't see scenes like this in Australia at Christmas it brings back memories of my visit to England as a teenager, seeing the deer on the lawns of the Abbey we visited.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples in the All Is Bright section of the catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CI #45 - In-Colours 2017-2019

Welcome to another Colour INKspiration challenge, this one will run for three weeks, so you have time to be inspired by the gorgeous image and the Stampin' Up! colours we have matched to it.

We are using the In-Colours from the 2017-2019 collection for this challenge, and you can use 1, 2, 3, 4, or all 5 of them in your project.  As usual you can also add any of the basic colours (black, white and vanilla).  I used all but Powder Pink in my project.

My project for this challenge uses one of the new stamp sets I got at On Stage this weekend just past.  I love this set and I just know you are going to see more of it, isn't the sentiment just lovely?

I started by stamping the main image on water colour paper in Grey Granite and then using my Aqua Painter to colour with a combination of Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide for the leaves, varying the amount of each colour for the different types of leaves. Berry Burst and Fresh Fig were used to colour the flowers.  The leaves in the background were stamped directly on the card, each type of leaf using a different green, I then used the Blend Pen to move the stamped colours into the leaf body.

I hope you are inspired to join in with this challenge, as I mentioned at the start of my post you have three weeks to complete this one, so grab your inks and papers then post a picture of your project to the CI Facebook Page.

Time to hop on over and see what the lovely Narelle has created with the colours.

CTC #203 - Hostess Sets Both Catalogues

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where we take a look at one of the sections of a current Stampin' Up! catalogue and use the projects within it to inspire our own creations.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the hostess sets in both the Annual and Holiday Catalogues.

I was inspired by the card in the top left of this image from page 226 of the Annual Catalogue, it reminded me that I haven't used doilies for a while.

I realised the other day that we are now in November, and Christmas isn't that far away, so decided to get on top of some of my Christmas cards so used the sketch from the catalogue project to make this card featuring Joyous Noel DSP.  I just love the colours in this paper, and the copper foil images on it.  In keeping with the copper I used Copper Shimmer Paint to colour one of our doilies, and am so pleased with how it turned out.  The panel across the card was made using a rectangle of DSP adhered to some thick white card stock to give it some stability.  When I trimmed it down to have the diagonal ends I decided to keep the off-cuts to make another card!

The two ends turned around and adhered to the corers gives the illusion of a full banner on this landscape layout.  For this doily I sponged it in Merry Merlot then spritzed with some of the Copper Shimmer Paint mixed with rubbing alcohol. When it dried it reminded me of our lovely Merry Merlot and Copper ribbon so I added a layer of that to complete the banner feel.  The sentiment I had already cut for my original card, but decided the original needed to have diagonal ends not banner ends!  I love being able to use my "scraps" to create something new.  Which one do you like best?

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples in the All Is Bright section of the catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Because most of the design team will be attending On Stage next weekend, this challenge will run for two weeks.

Time to hop on over and see what Julia has created this week.
