CTC #307 - CASE the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week is our final challenge using the projects in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue as our inspiration.  Today is in fact the last day of Sale-A-Bration for this catalogue, although we are having a second SAB later in the year which is an exciting initiative from Stampin' Up! this year.

I chose this card from page 5 as my inspiration, and I think it caught my eye because of the use of DSP. I have earned quite a bit of the lovely SAB DSP this year and so have been looking for more ways to use it in my projects.

For my project I decided to use a more muted colour palette and thought I would use some of the Paper Blooms DSP for this card, using it for the three panels on the back as well as fussy cutting out some of the larger flowers and leaves from some of the sheets. I did add some sparkly coloured dots from my retired stash because they coordinated so well.

Here's a little tip to get the most out of your DSP. Firstly though I just wanted to apologise for the horrible way the colours have come out, but I took it on my desk while I was working and not in nice natural light.  When cutting images out of DSP don't just discard the incomplete images cut off by the edge of the paper, or that are overlapped with other images.  These cut out pieces above are what I used on my card, and with cleaver layering you would never know they aren't complete images I have used.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples in the SAB catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #306 - CASE Some Bling!

This week we are taking our inspiration from ..........

I was inspired by this image from page 24 which is featured as part of the Dandy Garden Suite.  This is a suite that has a lot of very strong colours which I like, but I was inspired to see how I could re-create it in a softer palette.

Here is my version which I kept very similar to the layout of the original card with some minor changes. I decided to showcase the use of "bling" without going overboard on a really sparkly card. I used punched dragonflies, see instructions below, and a little bit of Wink of Stella to the Pretty Peacock layer behind the sentiment.  I really love how these soft tones and touch of shine look together.

Here's how I made the dragonflies.  Firstly I stamped my Versamark Ink Pad directly onto Whisper White cardstock then covered in Heat and Stick powder and heat set it. I then added some Gilded Leafing brushing off the excess before punching out the dragonflies. I love how this gives a gilded but not overly sparkly effect.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples in the Jan to Jun Mini Sparkly projects, or step up a CASE to add sparkle. Then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #305 - CASE a Sketch: Donkey

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from this cute little donkey card on page 5 of the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue.

The basic layout, or sketch, for this card is above and you can interpret this in a number of ways.

I decided to try and make a card that really featured the beautiful Ombre DSP that you can earn for free during Sale A Bration. To do this I used the DSP for all the elements except for the base card and white panel (and the glittery dots). I stamped the flower and leaves on the paler end of the solid DSP for the lighter colour and used strips of the darker end of the DSP for the strips behind the main panel. For some added interest, I purposefully reversed the colours on the flower with the colours of the bands rather than keeping the Blackberry Bliss on top and Granny Apple Green underneath.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the sketch to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #304 - CASE the Love You Always Suite

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the Love You Always Suite on pages 10 to 13 of the Jan to Jun Mini Catalogue. This suite has a mix of stunning black and white products and luxurious metallic ribbon as well as printed and plain Foil Sheets, used separately or together these is a divine suite full of inspiration.

I was inspired by this image from page 13, I liked the simplicity of the layout and wanted to see the possibilities when other DSP and colours were used.

Here is my version, using a combination of the SAB Flower & Field DSP and Flowers for Every Season DSP from the Annual Catalogue.  I did some additional sponging on some of the layers to take away the stark whiteness in the papers, and because this felt a bit more masculine I decided to leave off the twine bow.   I didn't have any of the black pearls so used some of the ones from the Halloween suite from the Holiday mini, choosing the ones with the blueish tinge to them. I also used black glimmer paper for the Love to give it a bit more sparkle.  I had my husband in mind when I made this and will give him this card for Valentine's Day ... shhh, don't tell him!

I decided to use a strip of the DSP and the large Always stamp on the inside of the card. I don't always decorate the inside, but I do think it makes the overall card feel much more finished.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples on pages 10 to 13 to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Sandra has created this week.
