ESAD Blog Hop - Fancy Folds and 3D

Welcome to the ESAD Fancy Folds & 3D Projects Blog Hop, whether you are starting here or have hopped on over from the lovely Ellen's blog just follow the link at the bottom of each blog to hop around until you get back to the blog you started on!

For some time I have been itching to make a display frame and what better excuse than Christmas and the amazing Merry Little Christmas Mega Suite in the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue. I used a 12" x 12" Shadow Box Frame for this project as there are a few bits and pieces that would get squished in a normal frame.  I got mine from KMart in Australia, and I think the hardest part of this project was choosing the layout of the each panel!

I was so pleased with how this turned out and with the width of the frame it can either stand on it's own or can be hung on a wall.  There are so many little details on this project I want to show you each row and talk a bit about each.

This is the top row, and it has my favourite panel on it (far left) but a bit about the other two first. The middle one is really quite simple, I cut the snowflakes out of Dazzling Diamonds Glinmer Paper  using Seasonal Layers Framelits. For the ornaments on the right panel I stamped on Silver Foil Sheets with Black StazOn and cut them with the Card Front Builder Framelits.

This is my faviourite panel, I love the texture and detail on it, and who doesn't love the Jingle Bells carol?  Did you notice that the Foil Snowflake is black? The back of each snowflake is non-metallic white and is easy to sponge with whatever colour you like, I chose black to blend in with the monochromatic theme of the project. The black bakers twine and Year of Cheer Embellishment finish off the panel beautifully.

The middle row of the frame has the feature panel in the middle and quite a black and white theme, with just the hint of green in the leaves and Green Sprigs.   I love the card topper framelit on the middle panel, letting the colour behind show through, and of course you know I love that little deer.

I wanted to talk a bit about this panel as there are some great products on it from the Mega Suite that coordinate really well with the silver edged ribbon from the Annual Catalogue.  I used my hot glue gun to adhere the two sprigs together, as well as the bakers twine holding the Mini Ornament.  I adhered this all to the panel leaving the ornament free to swing if the frame is moved.

Finally the bottom panel, I kept this fairly simple to let the products shine.  The label on the left panel is embossed in white over Old Olive. The Foil Snowflakes are just so beautiful all I added was a large Clear Faceted Gem in the middle. I love how so many Stampin' Up! products coordinate across catalogues.  The right panel is simply the star background DSP and trees cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.   The whole project is really eye catching and will be the project we make at my November Christmas class.

Time to hop on over to Lou's blog to see what she has created for this hop. I would also like to say a big thanks to Lou as she is the organiser of all of the recent ESAD blog hops.
