CTC #566 - CASE The Colours of the Nature Walk DSP

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking inspiration from the Nature Walk DSP, which you might know from last week is one of my favourite packs in the current offering. The colours are Old Olive, Pretty Peacock, Cloud Cover, Secret Sea, Night of Navy and Pecan Pie. These are some of my most reached for colours so I am really happy with this challenge. 

Here are those colours, aren't the neutral tones just beautiful? I always find it easier to do a colour challenge by seeing the colours on their own, not as part of the DSP. Sometimes I do this with the ink pads or cardstock swatches. Seeing them like this also works, so I hope it helps. 

I took what I consider to be an easy route with this challenge, choosing pieces of the Nature Walk DSP with each of the colours and trimming them into irregular strips, narrow at one end and wider at the other. These are then layered onto a piece of Basic White bigger than I needed for the card to allow me to trim off the uneven edges. I find it easier to add adhesive to the base piece and add the strips randomising the colours and shapes. Next step was to add the sentiment from Scalloped Blooms, part of a bundle in the upcoming May to August Catalogue. 

Here you can see the sentiment and backing panels are both raised on Dimensionals with the collection of leaves slipped in behind them. To give the leaves more dimension I used Blending Brushes to add coordinating ink to the ends of the leaves; and with the Pecan Pie leaves used Dimensionals to raise up the three leaves.
