CTC #328 - CASE This Sketch

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from this lovely card on page 33 and using the sketch, or card layout out to inspire our creations.

Here is the layout in simpler terms. You an add whatever elements, images or even change the orientation in your CASE. I always see a layout challenge as a great opportunity to

I thought this layout would be great to use with the Plentiful Plants Bundle, allowing me to use some of the stamped images, die cuts and the DSP in different ways to create a cute image. I added a brad to the top of the hanging basket and raised it up on dimensionals to give the impression of it hanging off a hook. It also adds some dimension to the card. The sentiment is from Peaceful Moments, as I love this sentiment. When I showed this card to my son-in-law to be, he said the sentiment should read "Life is better with a fern like you"!  He loves a good pun.  The panel of DSP under the sentiment is the same as the one on the main panel, I have just coloured it with my Blending Brushes to add some Just Jade.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

Time to hop on over and see what Kathryn has created this week.

CTC #327 - CASE The Christmas Time Section of the Catalogue

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

We are celebrating a special milestone this week, tonight is the 7th Anniversary of CASEing the Catty!  Thanks to everyone who has been with us for the 7 years, and for those who have joined in more recent times.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the Christmas Time / Holiday Section of the Annual Catalogue, pages 88 to 95.

I was inspired by this image from page 88, I loved it as a way to show off strips of DSP or use up scraps you might have left over from other projects.

I changed this up by making a landscape oriented card, and used the returning favourite Heart Warming Hugs DSP. I was so excited to see this DSP come back into the Annual Catalogue, I love the strong colours and small patterns which make it great for all sorts of projects. I have added some rhinestones for extra bling.

In this up close look at my stocking you can see that I have also added some Wink of Stella to the fronds in the Christmas stocking., sadly Wink of Stella never photographs as nicely as it looks in person. I have also stamped the stocking twice, once in Real Red and once in Mossy Meadow, then I cut the top off the red stocking and adhered it to the green for some extra interest. I like how this turned out.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use the samples in the Christmas Time section of the Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #326 - CASE A Layout and Step It Up

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the projects in the Annual Catalogue with a twist, and that is to step them up in some way. Stepping up a project just means to add some extra features to the card, such as layers, embellisments, ribbon, techniques etc.  It doesn't have to be fancy or over the top, just adding a couple of simple extra elements steps it up from the original.

I was inspired by this image from page 36 of the Annual Catalogue, I liked the feature boxes on the front.

My project is stepped up with some DSP panels layered on die cut scalloped rectangles and the sentiment also die cut.  The edges of all of these panels are also sponged which is a great technique for helping layers to stand out.  I also used a panel of DSP instead of just stamped images on the card base like the original.  My last bit of stepping up was to add some Genial Gems for a bit of sparkle.  Any one of these would have been stepping up the card, I just decided to step up in a few different ways.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.

CTC #325 - CASE A Bundle Project

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop, where utilise the projects within the current Stampin' Up! catalogue to inspire our own projects each week. We also invite you to join with us in the challenge each week by using this inspiration in your own creations and uploading a photo to our Facebook page.

This week we are taking our inspiration from one of the die bundles which are featured at the back of the Annual Catalogue on pages 156 to 161.

I was inspired by this image from page 161 showing the Tidings & Trimmings Bundle. I love the images and dies in this bundle, and it was the second suite of products to catch my eye in the new catalogue. I can't wait to make more Christmas cards with it over the coming months.

I used the same bundle as the original card, but different stamps from the bundle. I also coloured the vellum behind one of the die cut stars.  I think Polished Pink and Bermuda Bay are fun alternate colours for Christmas.  The extra details on the leaves behind the sentiment are hand drawn on with a white gel pen.  I am loving these little stockings and am really pleased with how this turned out.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week, just use any of the samples in the new Annual Catalogue to inspire your creativity, then post a picture of your project to the CTC Facebook page.
